I keep seeing it all over the place, this idea that you can’t do something even though it’s within your control. For example, someone who says “I can’t afford to have a hobby!” There are plenty of hobbies that don’t cost money. “I can’t work! Nobody’s hiring!” Yes they are, if you really, truly need money then you can find a job, you’re just not looking everywhere. “I can’t get a boyfriend/girlfriend!” Yes, you can. You just need to get out of the house more and make an effort.
I don’t know, it just ticks me off to see so many people act helpless and refuse to believe otherwise. You can do anything, be anything, you just have to put in the effort. And yeah, it’s hard sometimes, but if you really want something then it’s worth it.

Well as much as I find it unattractive and disappointing , and I do ! , it’s learned behavior.
Perhaps from harsh parenting , inconsistent rewards , emotionally unpredictable relationships , toxic jobs, if nothing you ever did changed the outcome , well then you what you may learn from that it doesn’t matter what you did …. And there it’s born that you could not help.
Though , what’s also true about learned behavior is that it can be unlearned! … these people walk around feeling like nothing they can do will affect change , but you can’t wait to feel motivated like you aren’t being given the right choices or opportunities like the world is against you !!! You unlearn this helplessness by proving to your brain that you actions cause things to happen and that inaction only guarantees your learned outcome. Your actions create predictable outcomes.
Take on small challenges with guaranteed outcomes , I need to exercise today go for a walk …exercise accomplished. The simpler the better , the more you take on , the more you see that action = result , which will deliver its own motivation and energy for more and more until that hopelessness fades and resistance lowers and you build yourself back.
You don’t get yourself out of a hole by imagining a ladder , you put your lead foot on the first rung and let physics do the rest.
It’s very annoying indeed
