As a bonus, if you have outdoor pets, have you been bringing them inside due to the cold?
Double bonus, if you wanna name them.
As for me, we have 2 dogs and 2 cats and yes the dogs are indoors while it remains cold.
My wife and I have 3 cats and a bunny.
A friend of hers gave her the bunny about 3 years ago. His name is Pepper. He has a comfy hutch and enclosure inside the house. He is very happy. We feed him fresh vegetables from our garden, bunny kibbles, hay, and some bunny treats that he loves. Sometimes he escapes from his enclosure and hops joyfully around, exploring the house.
My wife collects his poop and dirty hay to add to our compost. That's why she got him in the first place.
Poatie (POTUS) is our oldest cat. My wife adopted him when he was a couple months old. He's over 7 years old now and weighs 18.5 lbs. He's a super furry, marmalade-orange, part Maine coon and is a very sweet boy.
At the end of April 2005, a mama cat with 3 kittens showed up on our front porch. The kittens couldn't have been more than 6 weeks old and were still nursing. We started feeding them and all the cats gobbled up the food. They gradually let us pet them. They would come and go. We life in a rural area on 30 acres and I think they would go to our neighbor's house up the hill.
On July 4th, my wife saw the mama heading of past our garage with the kittens following her, so she followed to see where they were going. All of a sudden the gray kitten ran back as if it was scared and my wife grabbed it.
She went out to find the other cats but they had disappeared. She thought an animal had grabbed them, so she brought the kitten in the house and it acclimated instantly. It made friends with the bunny, played with toys, and played with Poatie on the first day.
He is gray with dark stripes and spots. We named him Sterling.
A couple days later, the mama and two kittens showed up again. As before, they would come and go. But sometimes one of the kittens would stay behind. Finally, on August 20, we brought her inside.
She is white with gray on her lower legs and tail and gray markings on her face and ears. We named her Pearl.
Sterling and Pearl must be over 7 months old now. We had them spayed and neutered in December. They have gotten bigger and their tails have become as fluffy as squirrels. Sterling is now 8 lbs and Pearl is 6.5. They act like kittens, runnig around, playing and rough housing, but are super friendly, get along with Poatie, and sometimes sleep in our laps. All three cats sleep in our bed.
The mama cat and kitten didn't come around for a couple of weeks. When they did, my wife saw that her tummy had been shaved. She had a scar on her tummy and a nick out of her ear indicating that she had been spayed and marked as a feral cat. She wasn't feral, though. We figure that the neighbor had her fixed.
We saw her and the last kitten in our yard once or twice but they never came back on our porch. They don't come around any more at all, but we are very happy that she brought Pearl and Sterling to use. They will have very happy lives.11 Reply- 4 mo

4 dogs. Buddy, Samantha and Cassandra are cocker Spaniels, and Lucy is a very mixed pitbull that I picked up as a stray.
They prefer to stay inside mostly, I never keep them outside over night. They like it inside and I always make sure they're all inside before I shut the door.
I remember one night I shut the door too soon, I was drunk, this was during my substance abuse issues. But luckily, I heard her bark and realized my mistake and opened the door to let her back in.
I'm glad I'm not like that, anymore. And they're glad, too. Cassandra and Samantha will wear jackets but Lucy takes it off, she always finds away. And Buddy won't look at me until I take it off when I put a jacket on him.
But they let me put blankets on them if I feel them shiver10 Reply

Don't the squirrels fight? They usually are food-jealous. :-)

4 moI have a little mongrel terrier dog named Sam but he's getting old and my sweetie has a fluffy cat named Harry and I swear he is the only animal in the world that doesn't like me. I call him Hemorrhoid when she's not looking.

Ah, pets bring such joy to our lives, don't they? 😊 I have a cozy home without any pets, but I've always loved visiting friends with playful dogs and mischievous cats. If I had pets, I'd definitely make sure they were comfy and warm during cold spells, just like how you take care of yours. It’s wonderful to share our lives—and homes—with furry friends, especially when they bring so much love into our lives! 🐾💖

4 moMy family has a cat and a dog. It doesn't really get cold where I live and the cat stays outside unless she needs to eat. The dog was initially an outside dog, however, as she got older, my parents decided to keep her inside.
Personally, I prefer/love cat's the most! At some point I want to get my own cat and maybe a ferret? But I can only do that when I get back on my feet.

4 moWe have a dog, stays Indoors most of the time, we walk her 3-5 times a day, as exercise, fresh air, and so she can do her business.
When I was growing up, I had, at various times, fish, parakeet, hamsters, guinea pig, turtle and a dog, all kept indoors, except our dog sometimes ran around the fenced back yard.
10 ReplyI have three cats named Angus, Allister, and Angel. None of them ever go outside because going outside is not safe for cats. I have a very large house, and all of us enjoy it a lot. I love my cats a great deal, and I take extremely good care of them.
