Why do some people think it's unmasculine for a guy to listen to music with female vocals?

Some would even say it's a gay thing but technically wouldn't it be gay if a person only listens to vocals of their own gender, I think women's voices are soothing (only when they aren't screaming at you) 😂

This is an interesting postulation. Male voices dominate music, period. But if you're straight, it might be natural for you to prefer the vocals of the gender you're attracted to.

And it might ALSO be the reason that tenor vocalists are a large part of rock n roll. They attract male and female followers because that range covers lower ranged female singers and higher ranged male vocalists...

But individuals have their preferences. I like deep male ranges like Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah." This might be because the male range I heard during my early years was my dad's baritone and he was a nice singer.

Your choice of male or female vocalists might have something to do with your sexual orientation and something to do with the kinds of music you listen to.

I don't think it reflects on the listener's masculinity or femininity. I prefer male singers because I prefer male voices. But there aren't that many female singers/groups out there to choose from.

So there are a host of factors at play here. It's a pretty complex formula that I think has little to do with someone's gender expression.
