Thoughts on guys who listen to female singers?
Discovered this song today. WILL NOT leave my head now so have it on repeat...
Huh? I would never have even guessed that guys get hung up on listening to female singers. Is that seriously a thing? I mean come on, Heart, Grace Slick, The Runaways, Lita Ford, Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks? Are you kidding me? Suzy Quattro, Pat Benatar, OMG, Debbie Harry? There are so many amazing, kick-ass, STRONG, female musicians! Why would any guy feel ashamed, OR be looked down on for liking music by female artists? I mean, for one thing it’s music, does music even have a gender? For another, I don’t think there’s a drop of female energy in any of the singers I mentioned… well, maybe Stevie Nicks?
I grew up in a strange environment growing up lol. When I have the radio on when I'm sitting outside catching sunlight and I'm listening to a female singer and guys come around the corner I still have the knee jerk reaction to mute it and then bump something macho. Omg it's so funny because after i catch myself doing it now I laugh and go back to listening to it. I guess getting bullied for so many years took a toll on my mental health and confidence a lot lol.
Okay, I will have to take your word for it, I have never even heard of guys getting teased for liking female singers? That would be the equivalent of us getting teased for liking male singers! And it’s the exact opposite. I new some girls in middle school who if you liked female folk music types, might give you a hard time, but that was middle school! Even then, I still didn’t actually get teased for any music I liked!
Oh, sweetie I and sure it is a fact, I am just saying that this whole thing of men feeling weak, or intimidated because they like female singers… that’s just a “You Thing” I pretty certain that the rest of male society likes female singers, enjoys their music, and probably jerks off thinking of her sucking him off or whatever. Hell, if I was a teenager (or alive) in the 1980’s I likely would have rubbed one or two out thinking about a young Jon BonJovi!
Some of my favorite songs actually comes from females, I have a habit of just randomly listening to songs on yt and recently I found NOTD Summer of Love and now I am listening it on repeat,, I like some songs from all major female singer since I write raps I like some songs of nicki minaj iggy and even French rapper Keny arcana , it'd not a big deal to listen to songs from any singer, I like linking Park too,
Music is all about music and lyrics it don't matter who sings it
Their is a singer named Kailash kher in India he is a guy but he sings songs from female perspective his lyrics are something what a female would write and sing so it puts a good thing in his music
The main point being enjoy music it don't matter much who's it is
There's a few female singers I listen to. Some in the rock/heavy side of things, while others are acoustic and on the mellow side.
And most of them I discovered by hearing their music before actually seeing any videos or what they look like.
Most recent addition is the New Zealand band "Devilskin" which an old high school friend tossed my way to give a listen to. Jennie Skulander got some pipes and can hit all the notes, including those death metal screams.
In the past there was Evanescence, Garbage, Big Naked, Sarah McLachlan, Chantel Kraviazuk, Jan Arden, Holly McNarland, Alannah Myles, Heart...
There's many, but in honesty, they make up about 20% of the music and artists I listen to.
Ack, Bif Naked, not Big Naked. Must have auto corrected.
I didn’t know this was a thing!!! But now that I think about it a lot of men never advertise themselves listening to female singers. Damn.
Talent doesn’t discriminate. As I’m sure you know, there are just as many great female singers as there are men. You should listen to whatever you like to listen to. Music is beautiful - it is literally the one thing that’s helped me get through my entire life. Don’t limit it because of some close minded idea.
@Alyssa11 Talent doesn't discriminate, but promoters do. Female singers are discriminated against all the time. (Unless they show their boobs, of course.)

The high pitched sounds that come from female vocalists (sometimes men) almost always sets off my Misophonia so I cannot listen to it. Especially, not into those power metal/goth metal female lead groups. Too whiney for me. There's a female lead Black Metal group from Iran and another from Lebanon that I like though.
From Coheed and Cambria? Yeah... can't stand him and can't stand that band. Annoying fanbase as well.
Its fine if he listens to female singers but if he starts twerking or dancing all flamboyantly then hell nawl
This was the college football team basically… ultimate turnoff
https://i.gifer.com/76fP.gif
Be lucky lmao
@DizzyDesii OH DEAR GOD I SEE IT NOW ON MY COMPUTER MONITOR! WWWWWWHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY?
Yea the majority of Hs and college guys here keep twerking. Its a turnoff
@DizzyDesii If I ever "twerk," please shoot me on the spot.
@Jamie05rhs lol soulja bout with when i was in 6th-8th grade. Twerking was a thing in early 2000s but people tried to redux it in 2014+ ruining shit
I don't even like it when girls twerk. I think it's asinine. (No pun intended.)
@Jamie05rhs when she's twerking on you it's different, trust XD
Miley is one of the people trying to make it her own. Twerking has been around since early 2000s. She was about 15 years too late
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aJEzl31zL-I
@t-8900 Hell naw. I don't allow that shit.
I'm a Christian.
@Jamie05rhs ummmm you're wife? And just because you're Christian doesn't mean you need to be prudish. No penetration? No Nudity? Just fun. But yeah I am too however I caved at 26. couldnt take it anymore and buckled. Back on track, mostly. But celibacy is hard and it wasn't like people waited this late back then so they had a damn good excuse XD
Exactly like all three of us are Christian. But even Christians have dance rhythm lol. And yes other old songs like Bubba Sparxx Mrs New Booty, little Jon Get Low, Chingy Right Thurr and ao many more songs had twerking. I hate seeing people try to remake something
@DizzyDesii I don't dance at all (no skills), but if I did I certainly wouldn't dance like that.
@Jamie05rhs the guy is not supposed to twerk. Its not masculine which is the point of my comment to the asker
@t-8900 My wife won't have to twerk to get me interested. I'll be on that ass as soon as I walk in the door. And I'm the one that's going to be doing the moving. She can just stay still and enjoy it!
@DizzyDesii My point is I wouldn't let any hoe ride up on me like that. Not in public, at least.
@Jamie05rhs way to contradict yourself. You just told him you're disgusted by it but now its okay if she does it in private. Lmao im gonna leave now
I ain't contradicted shit. 🤓
@DizzyDesii You know there's a difference between how you 'sposed to behave in public and how you 'sposed to behave behind closed doors.
@Jamie05rhs you said “I don't even like it when girls twerk. I think it's asinine.”
He said “when she's twerking on you it's different, trust”.
You said “ Hell naw. I don't allow that I’m Christian”.
I said “We’re all Christian.”
You said “My point is I wouldn't let any hoe ride up on me like that. Not in public, at least.”
And then im asking okay so not in public but in private… so yea you’re contradicting yourself
@DizzyDesii No; I still don't like twerking. But she can rub on me gently.
If you like it don't stop yourself from listening to it. A female singer doesn't neccesarily make the music feminine. Even if so, the music doesn't necessarily make the guy feminine.
My favorite female singer is Hope Sandoval by the way
Why can't men enjoy women singers I know I enjoy male singers
A bunch of my male friends listen to women singers all the time
Opposite for me lol women everywhere hahahahaha men were out numbers
yeaaaa i wish i had women in my life growing up. I'm sure i would have been more functional with women in adulthood, hell even as a teenager. I had plenty of women who liked me but i was too dense to see it. wound up with just cheating good for nothings but some of the girls on the soccer team really liked me back then. Damn I kick myself for it still lol.
Dont beat yourself up dust those sholder off and keep it pushing
That's what I do
I'd think they're cool. I prefer male singers, but even I love to listen to artists like Billie Eilish or Aurora.
every workout session starts with:

It’s a bit strange that you think it’s an issue.
loads of guys listen to female singers, guys who are probably more macho than you have met. A friend of mine of 2 Para has a tattoo of Kylie Minogue. Music is music.
Also female rock / metal vocalists are often amazing and have a very deep connection when singing, far more than a guy.
Seriously never heard of this before.
It's fine, but I understand being embarrassed or feeling ashamed for liking it. That's how I felt when I was younger too. I usually don't like listening to it when others are around though, something just feels off. By myself I listen to Rihanna though.
As long as you stay away from Celine Dion and the like you should be able to keep your Man Card.
Do you think Claudio Sanchez still has a man card? watch/listen and tell me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRWjLLpwnOM
I listen to Li Saumet from Bomba Estero and Fran Riquelme from Newen Afrobeat. I love them. Besides that? Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Kiki Dee, Ella Fitzgerald, Koko Taylor and Joan Jett.
Never cared that much about what people have to say about any of the music I would listen to... although some of it might be questionable indeed, lol
They don’t actually like the music if you know what I mean.
if they didn’t find the women attractive then they wouldn’t even bat a second eye to them
have some faith girl...
Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Of some says otherwise it'd be a big red flag for me
Avril Lavigne has always been one of my favorites, I went to a Taylor Swift concert before. You like what you like.
No judgement, though I have a preference for male singers.
@kidanoy Woah 😳 Really not cool hun! Sending these bullshit spam messages is definitely not appropriate or appreciated. I just got a DM saying some pretty unflattering things about you. This is one of the quickest ways to lose all friends here! Sorry, just sayin’
@kidanoy To add on to @CrazyGirl2, that is also a good way to get in trouble on this site
As it SHOULD be! It’s a horrible thing. Nobody likes a spammer!
It is not unusual at all. You must like them and their voice/style.
I listen to male AND female singers. The song matters more to me than the gender of the one who sings it.
Nothing wrong with that I enjoy listening to both men and women singers as long their music good considered me a fan of them.
I like Joni Mitchell, does anyone have a problem with that?
I listen to mostly female singers if it’s Pop, not embarrassed, all my 80s music was mostly male singers though
I don't think men are trying to encourage eachother to listen to male only singers as if listening to girls make you gay... We don't really care... I listen to girls sometimes... But if you only listen to girls music... There is an underlaying sign that you may be a little gay
