Is it normal or common as you’re aging, you want more privacy?

I feel like this past year, I’m slowly starting to feel my age in my 30s era like I’ve never before other than my career focus that have always been there lol. Usually I love being on my social media and I’ve always been posting my life away like it’s natural since my 20s on Snapchat or Instagram. Oddly lately, I am starting to question what or who am I really doing that for? Is it for all the likes and validation? Technically I don’t really need it and it was just fun. But I am actually starting to feel like I should be keeping my life more private and not everyone deserves/needs a glimpse of it. I just want to bit more peace and quiet more than I’ve had before lol. It’s getting weird, is this what being in my 30s era really like 🤔😂 am I finally getting into the stereotype of “boring” lmao.

It’s quite common to want more privacy as you get older. People often become more selective about social contact, less tolerant of intrusion or unnecessary demands, and more protective of their time, energy, and personal space.

That preference alone does not suggest anything is wrong. It becomes potentially concerning mainly if it represents a sharp change, is driven by fear or suspiciousness, or turns into unwanted isolation—especially alongside depression, anxiety, confusion, or loss of interest in people you normally enjoy. Otherwise, wanting greater privacy may simply reflect clearer boundaries and knowing how you prefer to live.

As I get older and more comfortable with myself, I find I need less.

If you're talking about the government and corporations that's another story though.

But I worked very hard on myself over my life. My identity, how I use it to navigate life is pretty decently polished at this point. I can go anywhere and build up a group of the same type of people and get basically the same reputation. So it feels less safe for me to be private at this point.

It's not boring to be judicious about what information you put out there about yourself. Some vacation photos are one thing. But everything about your personal life? Do virtual strangers need to know it? And remember, once in the cloud, as far as we know, it's FOREVER there? And people offering future jobs can access foolish postings. (We were so wasted in Aspen!) Postings that might make you look careless or foolish and not a worker someone would hire... or a partner someone would choose.

Makes sense you're thinking through that privacy also means safety!

I don’t share a lot on social media anymore. When I was in my twenties I did a decent amount and it was because I wanted other people to know that I had friends, I look pretty and I was going out doing fun things. Now I really don’t care. I think for me it was a combination of getting older and getting in a happy/stable relationship

Well these apps are designed to sell stuff and make money so personally I would avoid all of them - this one not so much as it makes its money by popping adverts in occasionally but fundamentally lets us chat about ideas and life situations lightly without showing endless pictures of ourselves and our lunches or sports cars or makeup. Just delete them :) and grab your time back.

Same here everyday I get older and I have found peace in my life

I know who I am and at the same time have realized what is important to me

But im still searching for something or someone who is like me who sees and feels the same things I do and who is looking or wanting an answer to a question of becoming one
It drives me crazy in a way because I can't find anyone who understands what I mean or wants that same experience

I think in general, a majority of men have always been that way. Women, not all, always seem to be the ones positing for attention. That’s why men say they’d rather have a girl who is cute, gorgeous, works a normal job who isn’t famous because it draws too much attention. Women tend to need others around them, men not so much. I’m ok sitting alone on a river fishing, drinking a beer for hours on end. Hell I’m ok at home alone on the couch watching a scary movie.

Yes. Coffee is still a social thing for me, but with many things I will go, time myself and happily walk away on my own for some "me time". I still like being around people, but i like my peace and quiet also.

I've had more privacy than I know what to do with over the bulk of my life. Especially the past decade. Luckily, I DO have loads of things I can do to take up my spare time so, I NEVER get bored!!

Maybe the illusion is breaking away what you knew as entertaining and normal is changing like what's the use of it. So yeah it may be perceived as boring or it could be just awakening.
