I love long drive

I KINDA like driving and was always chuffed to do it when the chance came up but, I've never had a license. Since I'm the only one in the band that DOESN'T drink or do drugs, it eventually became my job to drive us home from our gigs in Erie (3 hours away) and Youngstown (90 minutes away) after a gig. As it was always on a highway and between 3 and 6 a. m., there was hardly any traffic on the roads so, it was pretty easy but, I've never liked the idea of being in control of a speeding hunk oof metal that COULD kill someone if I make the slightest mistake. So, for me, it was nearly always a white knuckle ride. I refused to take my eyes off the road!!
The last time I did that was probably about 30 year ago.

It's a necessary evil for me. My wife drives most of our long trips, typically 2-3 a year to visit family.

I hate driving. I'm a passenger princess lol. I'd rather my guy drive for me or even my best friends drive than me.

Funny thing, I enjoy “driving” more in racing games than in real life 🚗🎮
In real life, I like driving when roads are calm and there’s good music on. Long trips? Maybe a few times a year, usually for conventions, hikes, or visiting friends. I prefer 2–4 hour drives, anything longer gets tiring.

Most of my “road trips” are actually in open-world games 😄

I don't mind driving as long as it's not in a rush hour commute. my personal rule of thumb for a long time now is that if I need to travel for business and it's under about 500 miles, I'll usually drive. That's about 8 hours one way in a car. Driving to say JFK airport is a guaranteed minimum 2 hours each way. Then add offsite parking. TSA lines. Add a buffer for "unknowns" and I'm probably at about 4 hours before the plane ever leaves the ground. Factor in a flight time of 1.5 to 2 hours gate to gate with taxi time, boarding and deplaning, baggage carousel, rental car counter, and drive to a hotel or client offices and you're at 4+2+1 or 7 hours. I'd rather be in my own car comfy and able to stop any time I want.

When it comes to leisure trips, I'm usually headed to a ski area or a lake, seashore, or mountain range within a 6 hour drive of my home. I enjoy the views driving to those areas. And I like having my car when I get there.

Quite a bit i don't drive much now though. I live in the LA aria and everything is a mile or 5 miles or so down the street. I used to drive 50 miles to the nearest grocery store once a week. Or 20 miles to the abando concrete plant for a picnic. Now everything is so close i could just ride my bike if i wanted.

I'm a huge fan of driving. I take cruises almost every day. There's so much rural space around me its easy to get lost. Which is perfect.
