Both are actually very good for you. There’s evidence that suggests working in rich soil is extremely beneficial to our overall health. Even if you can’t keep a garden, houseplants can bridge that gap. Additionally, houseplants are good for your home environment. Caring for things is in our nature. Some people even swear by talking to their plants. Research that supports it suggests that the plants benefit from the extra carbon dioxide from our breath. I’m sure there are some mental health benefits for people with nobody else to talk to as well.
It seems like the age of personal gardening is behind us. Everyone is very consumed with self and buying their fruits, veggies and flowers instead of growing them.

I do have a small garden that I must take care of. I am personally not a fan of gardening on my free will.
As a kid, I was in charge of mowing the lawn every single Wednesday and to help out in the big garden my father had and where he planted a plethora of veggies, ranging from salads to Brussel sprouts, to string beans, to carrots and I am not mentioning everything else that was groing in it besides the weeds.
After having sacrificed part of my free time from school helping out in the garden, I grew to dislike it very much.
To this day, I do the bare minimum just because I have to do it in order to keep it clean.
I've got this Ivy, my mum give it to me about September of 1988. I've carried it through 4 moves. I found it down to one leaf back in the 90s!
But special attention brought it back.
It holds a very special meaning in its existence these 38 years. It was freed from the ivy mom grafted it from which also marked the first month my mom would be free from abuse by my dad.
