Do you enjoy gambling, and which games do you prefer?

Sort of but I've almost never done it. I kinda like roulette but have never played it except via a couple practice sessions at home.
I blew a couple hundred on penny slots a few years ago to try to win a lot more than what I started with and came out twice as broke (per se) as when I started. I found about $75.00 in change left by my brother after he died and decided to go to the casino to try my luck on the penny slots with that money. At first, I was winning a bit and decided that, whatever I had left by the time I ran out of that original money would be what I took home. So, I cashed out and was about to ready to leave. I think I ended up with about a $10 loss. Before I left, it hit me that the reason I even came was to try to win a lot more than I started with so, I decided to use all my winnings as well. I wasn't very lucky at all that time and went home with at least $70 less than I got there with.
At home, dad and I would sometimes start up a penny ante poker game with a few aunts and uncles visiting for a few hours and, somehow, I nearly always won more than anybody else. Dad was always complaining that I was making some dumb plays but, at the same time, he would also say that, with my luck here in the kitchen, I could clean up in Vegas!!
Without using any money, I like Blackjack but I have no idea what casino rules are. From what I've seen, they're pretty complicated. Nobody's ever explained to me what some of the terms are. The way we'd always play was pretty simple. My cousin deals Blackjack at the casino so, maybe some day, I can go ask her how it's done. As far as I know, you just have to get TO 21 in 2 or more cards without going over! There's also a thing called, a 5 car trolley (or is it, Charlie?) where, you automatically win if you have 5 cards that total 21 or less but I don't think that's part of casino rules.
I like Po-ke-no, which only uses chips (sometimes, we'll use pennies), the way we played it but, so far, I haven't had anyone to play it with in about 50 years! The game is still in the basement where it's been ever since we last played it but, I have no one in my life to play it with! I'm absolutely, utterly, completely alone as of 3 weeks ago and will most likely stay that way forever more!!
I HAVE played Tripoli a couple times in the late `60's but no longer have any idea how to play it. I'm pretty sure that's still in the basement, too but again, who am I ever gonna play it with? I WOULD'VE relearned it and taught it to my fiance and, eventually, our kids but, apparently, that's never gonna happen, now.
My fave in penny ante is Midnight Baseball. Everyone else seemed to hate it because your hand can change dramatically by the end of the game (but so can it in Spit In The Ocean) and they don't seem to like wild cards, but I think it's a very interesting game.
Back in the `70's, I used to go to the Bingo, sometimes with my grandmother, and would win a few bucks here and there.
So far, I think I've won a total of $12 on lottery tickets! Two of them were gifts and the other (a $5 winner) I found in the grass on a rainy day.

I have played poker profitably but have a hard time handling the variance. All the other casino games are hopeless. I know someone who was a profitable sports bettor for years but I don't have the patience to track the massive amount of data needed to beat the vig.

I don’t enjoy real-money gambling; I prefer “risk” in games where I only spend time and in‑game resources. I love things like roguelikes, loot-based RPGs, and gacha-style systems when they’re fair and optional. That way I still get the excitement of chance without risking real cash, just smart strategy and patience 🙂

Gambling means risking losing. It is what causes the thrill. If you have a strategy that guarantees profit, it's no longer a gamble. So no i stay away from gambling. ㅤ

Not exactly. If i have an edge, (say like in the game of poker) then i like it. Poker is a skill game. It's not just blind luck. Is there an element of luck? Of course. That's why they call it gambling. But if you're more skillfull than your opponent and you know the odds (which is the elementary part of it). Then it's more skill than gamble. But no, i'm much too competitive to gamble anything other than recreationally. And the odds are always with the house. You WILL lose it's just a matter of time. I hate losing. So why would i ever do it. I know in poker i can control the outcome to a degree. I played poker for the better part of 10 years. I was good enough to make consistent money. But i wasn't good enough (didn't make enough), to justify doing it for anything other than recreationally. Could i have gotten better if i had kept at it? Maybe. But it simply wasn't fun to me anymore. It became like work. And it simply was work that didn't pay enough for the time spent doing it.

So i guess to answer your question, i gamble very sparingly. I buy a powerball ticket. But to men that's not really gambling. I know the odds, i largely EXPECT to lose. I'm not really buying thelottery ticket so much as i am the temporary dream. To me the thought for 24 to 48 hrs. of, "if this baby hits, i don't have to go to work tomorrow, or ever again" is worth a measly 2 dollars.

I don't gamble, never will, if i want to lose money, i'll lose some by spending some on making others happy and help the ones who are in need...
