Just a quick search on the internet leads to an article that ends with:
"Cybele sent Attis mad, and he ran in a crazy rage through the mountains, eventually (for reasons best known to himself) castrating himself at the foot of a pine tree."
Reminding of the other Attis statue in america holding his own meat as a torch, which my mom asked about a while ago.
But so are the balls on the Christmas tree representations of castrated balls, as mentioned in this video:

Which I called grotesque in an update to my last question, and I suspect that is what caused it to be removed.
But I don't see why anyone gets offended when I call their grotesque practices grotesque, they just are. Do you agree that christmass traditions are grotesque?
