Like for birthdays or Christmas or whatever. when you receive a gift and end up never using it... and even end up giving it away. does it make you feel bad about that?

Nope. In fact one year someone got me a bottle of alcohol for Christmas. Normally a great gift for most people...except I don't drink. I literally never have. Everyone knows this about me because I've known my friends for 20+ years and my family definitely knows I don't partake. Everyone in the room was 100% behind me with that one too with a lot of my friends immediately commenting when they saw it, why would you get her that, you know she doesn't drink? So I thanked them anyway, gave the gift right back to them, made no apologies about it, and told them to give it to someone who could use it.

Sometimes I do feel bad but then I think to myself "as a close friend, you should know that I hate bath bombs..." so I'm giving them away.
Once my neighbor even said, why are your friends always giving you bath bombs, body lotions or perfume... even my sister knows that you don't like that stuff? 🤷🏽♀️
I feel more bad with family tho and there I try to use them in some way.
Don't feel bad at all. Any more. I used to. But now I/we have too much stuff. When we buy for the kids or they buy for each other my wife and I push them to be really thoughtful and really intentional about what they get each other. Will it be used. Etc. And to listen to what they/we/I want so that the thing is valued. But, back to your question: yeah. Don't feel bad. Gifts, for the most part, really about about the thought/genesis of the gift. So I value that and if I don't need or want it, make sure it goes to where it's needed.
i was given some VR that's now outdated. i should donate it.

I usually use the gifts I receive and never give them away so no feeling bad.
Yes, dolls. When I was little, I hated dolls since I found them so boring and it was the one gift I got the most. I have had to throw gifts away and I do feel terrible, but it is what it is.
My mom gave me a snow kit some years back? Aaand... well it's the thought that counts but I never used it? Still, the thought

Yeah, I usually hold onto the gift for ages before I muster up the courage to give it away without feeling too bad.
