Do you ever feel guilty when somebody pays for you or gifts you something often?

Had the experience, where someone leveraged giving me a gift as an attack vector on me later on. There were strings attached.

I don't have a girlfriend. Part of the reason is because I don't feel like having to pay for everything that is expected by some woman.

nobody gets me anything bc i dont like it. i js like paying for myself. yh if its Christmas or my birthday then its ok, not when its really often.

Why should I feel guilty? I didn’t do anything wrong. If someone decided to treat me or give a gift then that’s something they wanted to do for me, I didn’t force them. Feeling guilty would mean I either don’t feel like I deserve it (I do deserve it) or feel like I somehow wronged them for not refusing a gift/being paid for when that’s what they wanted to give me/do for me (which is ridiculous). I think feeling guilty for such things stem in low selfesteem or low sense of self worth. Like for some reason you aren’t worthy of other peoples gifts and it would be better for them to keep their money and you don’t want to ”bother” or ”take” something from them (even though they WANT to do that for you).
