How can people not feel bad when others spend hundreds for gifts for them?

Because people are different, some thinks that when a person spends more on them, it means they love them more and some others are just materialistic and others has compassion and would not let someone buy them an expensive gift, they settle for the less... etc

Why would I feel bad for a price tag they willingly and independently paid? Shit when I got my girl her first rifle, between the gun, ammo as accessories, I spent a little over $3,000. She didn't feel bad, she was excited
