As a child What were you told about Santa Claus if you celebrated Christmas?

One of the things my grandparents told me was that there was more than one Santa. I was 10 or 11 when I actually found out my grandmother was "Santa" because the notes she left me from Santa were in her handwriting in addition I always left diet soda for "Santa" (my grandmother was diabetic)

I didn’t really know who he was for a good 10 years. 🤔

For all I knew Santa was some neighborly man, on one of the floors of our apartment building.

It freaked me out knowing the dude saw me sleeping, and wouldn’t get me a single thing, if I was accidentally bad 👀

but for real in all honesty lol

my answer would be: He just would bring us gifts from the North Pole, and my reasoning, at that age, was he was a helper of Jesus.

Was told I wouldn't get gifts “this year,” if I wasn’t listening.

I was told the usual things. Santa likes cookies and milk, always leave some carrots out for his reindeers to eat, no child could see him, and he could fly because of magic and visit every home in one night (also due to magic).


I was a nosy child. I found out Santa wasn't real when I was about 9 years old. I stayed awake all night and heard my parents putting the presents under the tree. I never admitted to knowing the truth until I was about 10-11 years old 😂

That he likes mince pies and beer. We were also told that Mum & Dad would buy the presents and send them to Santa (Father Christmas), who would only deliver the presents if we were good. I was about 8 or 9 when I found out he wasn't real. I'd gone downstairs for a drink and saw Mum & Dad putting the presents out.

we were never "sold" into the fantasy and illusion, Christmas is a celebration and Santa is a central figure of that part of the celebration, so there was no reason to later find about "lies" lol

Kinda just nothing lol but I always watched the movies and thought Santa could come at night. But I never believed it. I knew as a kid it’s not true. But of course if your family pretends it is true you’ll likely believe it as a child
