The magic is in the feeling of relief. More likely to happen on New Year's Eve because of the alcohol, cold, and time spend in crowds outside.

I live in Florida. If I go out, I'm driving so I don't have more than one alcoholic drink. And I try to avoid crowds. Taking a leak outside is somehting I have done thousands of times, but not am more on NYE than any other day. But that's me; your explanation probably does apply to many other people.

i went to a party at somebodys house one year. He was a classmate of one of my friends so I did not know anyone there. The house was really crowded and there was only one bathroom. It was unusually warm that night and very foggy. It was just perfect for peeing outside. There were even a couple of girls that did it.
