Do you do Elf on the shelf?

Question

The elf in the picture was one introduced to Wales in the 19th century by Scandinavian sailors. He lived in a horn and watched over kids to make sure they behaved.

The modern day version of course is American. A naughty elf that plays tricks on the run up to Christmas. Some families see it as harmless fun, others dread having to think up new pranks every night to impress the kids.

I did when my kids were younger , but I still display him for Christmas and want to keep him for my grandkids , whenever I become a Grandfather. My kids’ named him Elfie , so that’s been his name ever since lol

I do a similar thing.  I do a "nisse" (gnome) at work - who works pretty much as an elve on the shelve.

The way that the Elf on the Shelf was explained to me is that the Elf is an agent of Santa Claus and he will rat you out to Santa if you are bad.

Nope, until I moved to Southeast US, I had never heard of Elf on the Shelf. I still don't do it.
