When the kids were younger, they got a lot of fun out it. But it tough as a parent to maintain, because you got to remember every day to move it. So, when the kids get up in the morning and you are going about your daily morning drama, they are all excited to find where the elf on shelf is, and then when they see it in the same place it was yesterday... they get disappointed and it ruins the fun for them. So set a phone reminder to yourself for remember.

I personally think the elf on the shelf is a bunch of crap it's a waste of time and money. It becomes annoying when you forget to move the damn thing. It's another person's way of collecting cash

  When I married my husband he had custody of three children from a family member of his so they kids were already introduced elf on the shelf. Once they are introduced it you can’t really stop doing it lol.

  Well the childrens mom and dad had addiction to drugs so he got custody when they went to rehab and right after rehab the mother died from over dose. Their father has been doing really well for a year and a half and it looks like he will get custody again soon. It’s bitter sweet because the kids can grow more of a relationship with their father but I’ll miss having them around all the time.
