Is it normal for a workplace to not invite an employee to the work Christmas party just because theyre on medical leave?

Earlier today, my coworker posted about the workplace Christmas party for our work, which apparently is tomorrow. I had no idea. Just wondering if this is normal practice when one goes on medical leave, as this whole thing is very new to me.

That would be very awkward for everyone, and all the talk at the party would be about work, so for that person, it would be like they're not on leave.

Yes that's normal. You have to remember the Hippa law the people on your job don't know what your out or what your medical condition is so that's why the didn't invite you
