Do you think you'll have a good year in 2026 or a bad year?

Usually the even years have been good for me starting with 2020.

I know 2020 sucked for most people, but besides getting sick temporarily, it was a pretty good year for me.

2022 was a really good year as well.

2024 was the worst year ever.

2026 has to make a comeback for me and be the best year of the 2020s.

Well for me I'm going to take it day by day. I'm not going to project anything each day will start out the way it starts and I will either go with it or change it nothing is ever perfect. And that's find by me got to go with the flow and I like to be challenged anyway , so what it is , and i'm going to smile and make it better

I have surgery in 2 weeks and I expect to make a full recovery. I want to be better than new.

I'm very worried for this year. Them rushing to remove the anonymous open internet all over the world is very omminous. I want to know why they want control over our speech so bad. What is it they are planning?

I agree man. I don't care so much for anonymity, but I hate that they're arresting people for online comments. They're trying to silence free speech more than ever before and I feel like if the world does not fight back now, it'll be a very cold and dark world soon.

@HawkPerception I do care about anonymity immensely. Exactly for the reason you state, if we can't be anonymous we can't freely criticize our governments out of fear of retaliation. Same thing for criticizing activist movements. And from the kids social media ban its a small step to "If someone is deemed unfit to withstand russian propeganda they will be removed from social media to protect them" and then all dissidents can't post online anymore.

Thankfully there's alternatives like https://matrix.unredacted.org and Nostr where we can likely continue to communicate.

But why would you have to worry about anonymity if they can't arrest you for what you say online? That's all I'm saying. It should not be legal to arrest people for what they say on the internet. They're just words.

@HawkPerception because its not the governments that are the only issue. So many people get harassed at work because political extremists want to call your employer and have a talk. with them why they hired someone with racist views (which won't actually be racist). Anonimity solves that kinda nonsense and forces it to be about the ideas only.

I hear you, but I'm of the opinion that if you want to state an opinion, but you should have the balls to show your face when you say it. That's how things always were until the internet came about

@HawkPerception back then it wasn't so weaponized. If you had a discussion with a stranger on the street activists wouldn't weaponize your job against you. While online there will be people doing that deliberately. And privacy is generally important to me. Its just a necessary safety barrier when your interacting with potentially thousands at once instead of just the person your talking to.

When you get to my age you just pray to stay healthy. I'm getting a lot of joint pain, which might be natural ageing or something more sinister. Who knows? I think I feel a Google search coming on.
