What's the FIRST THING you did on NEW YEARS DAY?

Happy New Year! What is the absolute first thing you did on New Years Day 2026? For me... I climbed out of my bed and went to the bathroom. Yes, I fell asleep before midnight.

My wife had to wake at 4:30 am yesterday to be at work at 6 am. We went to dinner at 7:45 pm with a co-worker and his squeeze, and arrived home around 10:15 pm. It was too damned cold to go to any midnight fireworks (overnight low was 30° F.) and, besides, she fell asleep in the car on the way home. (The bottle of pinot grigio at dinner probably contributed to that.)

I tucked her into bed and sat up until shortly after midnight, fell asleep on the sofa, and woke up around 2 am, and got in bed. . . so that's the first thing I did today.

I woke up around 8:30 am and started the New Year right!

Went to work, tried making a road down into a muddy pit with a wheel loader so semi trucks could get down and we could load them. The first truck punched right through the material we put down and got stuck. Then we all gave up and went home, it was just too wet and still raining.

I went to sleep.. after midnight. The dumbest thing about New Years Day is that nothing ever happens. People get all excited for New Year, get drunk and fall into a coma for the next 24 hours. Dumbassery.
