I think that depends on the attitudes of the participants. Relationships are what you make of them. If two parties enter into a marriage with the idea that, if it doesn't work, we'll just get a divorce and move on, then it is a farce. If a man and a woman promise each other that their marriage will be their highest worldly priority and they will commit all of the time and attention necessary to make a marriage work, then it is not a farce; it is a source of strength, a refuge, and a foundation for the remainder of heir lives.

No. Some people want to get married out of love. Some people do it for bussiness purposes, some do it because they feel they have to.

1. Because courts favor women, making it a bad deal for the man (guys, NEVER forget a prenup. Never).
2. Because divorce is too accepted nowadays, and people are too quick to use it.
3. Because people rush into marriage without having solved problems beforehand, and without having really tested their relationship.
4. Because the world is too egocentric, and people just want "mine, mine, mine"

This together is responsible for most of the horrible number of divorces and bad marriages.
