Does the best man at a wedding dance with the maid of honor?

I've never been to a wedding before and my BF's brother is getting married.
Obviously, my boyfriend will be the best man and I barely know the fiancé so I will just be in the audience.

Will we not be seated at the same table at the reception?
Do the best man and maid of honor have to dance with each other?
Or does the couple getting married usually respect that either are in a relationship or married themselves?

that is the tradition. the bride and groom begin dancing and then usually at some point in the song or they'll play a second song the DJ (or whoever is leading the event) will announce others to join and the best man and maid of honor traditionally will dance with each other. and the rest of the groomsmen and bridal party will dance with a specific individual.

- it depends if the bridal party has a specific table. traditionally this is the case but most weddings i've been to allow couples to sit together regardless if someone is in the wedding party

- it's not about disrespecting a relationship it's just about tradition and rituals. if your boyfriend dances with the maid of honor you shouldn't take it as any affront in assault on your relationship

so really it depends on the ceremony and married couple's wishes

the sitting with only the bridal party is a tradition i don't see very much. typically nowadays they want a good environment so they will sit people with their plus one's in most cases.

You'll know before you go where you're seated, but after toasts and food people are normally up and dancing anyway. It just depends on how they plan it. Your boyfriend will know easily a week or two ahead of time. You'd be going to support him, try to worry less about how you fit in. Focus is on happy couple not any awkwardness you feel.

Often there will be a single dance that the wedding party will be paired for, but the rest of the reception everyone is welcome to dance with whoever they want.
As for seating, it is tradition to have the wedding party be at a single table, so you will probably not be able to sit with your boyfriend through the meal/toasts, however it is also likely that any SO's of the wedding party not in the wedding party will be put together at a table, so at least you will probably get to talk to other people who don't know anyone at the party.

I don't think that that happened at any wedding I've been to. Meh, even if he does dance with her, that's not really a big deal at all. The couple are in charge of the seating so it's really up to them whether they seat you together or not.

I only know the bride and groom to dance. I dont think anyone else is forced to dance together. However, the best man usually walks the maid of honor down the aisle
