Somewhere a few weeks ago I went to my mothers second wedding which I did not really care about I did not hear the speaker who was wedding my mother and though I was not paying that much attention I don't remember that question ever coming up as if no one asks that question at weddings anymore

It depends on who's officiating the ceremony. Some Reverends will use the phrase, others simply omit it - even at Catholic weddings. I've been to at least 20 weddings, and whenever it's been asked, no one has ever said anything.
