Why would a couple who has been together for 11 years and who also have a child together not have married each other yet?

Marriage isn't important for some people. Lots of couples are together for years and have kids without ever having a wedding. In most places, for all legal purposes you're considered the same as married. So really the only reasons to actually get married are personal/cultural ones.

I've seen couples together for years and be just as happy as any other couple. Then they get married, married only a short time, then their getting divorced and they hate each other, and it turns into a bloody war. One never knows but would they have been fine if they wouldn't have married? Who knows. If they don't want to marry and stay together, what's a piece of paper, maybe they don't need to make vows to each other. If it is working for them, let it work.

Because it isn't the priority for most people. My aunt and uncle had 3 kids who were all pretty much in their 20s before they got married. The wedding was actually a surprise for my Aunt, my uncle, my mum and myself planned the entire thing, bought her a dress and shoes and everything.

Maybe they don't want to be married. Marriage is a legal situation with advantages and disadvantages. In the US, depending on their incomes, marrying could cost them thousands a year in additional income tax, and would vastly complicate any break-up of the partnership.

Marriage licenses kill marriages, it’s the truth. Was living with a gal 11 years, we decide to get married, 7 months later we divorced and split. What was the difference? The only difference was the marriage license, proof of a tax paid to the state in exchange for doing what you’ve already been doing for a long time.

I myself believe in marriage, but I have friends and family that have been together for years and have grown children that never married. A relationship survives because of a couples commitment to each other, not because of a piece of paper.

Because the man is intelligent and won't risk getting used and abused. If the system was changed so men couldn't get abused then many more men would be open to getting married.

Could be money and time. I worked with a guy he was with this woman for 10 years. In the 9th year they got married. And a year later got divorce. I think about it and wonder if they didn't just get married to try to stay together.

You don't need to get married. Some people would rather not have the government involved moreso than they already are. This is one example. There's plenty of other reasons.

Because it’s not necessary, my parents were together for 15 years, they were basically married so there was no point in doing it officially
