Would you get married even if you don't have as much money as your significant other?

I'm a disabled veteran so I make some money. My fiance is a fireman but he has more funds than I do. I want to make more money to help out with bills and stuff before I get married. Would you go ahead and get married and grow together or wait to get more finances?

If you want to wait, there is always a plausible reason. If marriage is what will make you happy, why delay it? He isn't marrying you for your money, is he?

It's very laudable that you want your own finances in order but it does not immediately raise a red flag to my mind.
What does he think about the current situation?
I would suggest that many men accept a lower wages from a partner as normal even where they aspire for more from their partner.

If your fiance wants to help you, let him. As you can show your appreciation for him too. The main priority is what do you both want?

My wife and I were both flat broke when we got married. We both had jobs that were not high earning. We both worked to get ahead. We saved our money to buy a home in a nice town. We raised our own kids and put them through college with no debt.
If we waited until we had the perfect job or big incomes we never would have got married.
I say go for it, but do it for the right reasons.
