I am strongly against Open Marriage. Because of our social culture and family traditions being traditional Indian Hindu, I strongly believe that my husband is my and only for me, and as a wife I am his wife and only for him. Marriage is everlasting emotional and soul relationship in our culture and traditions. Marriages are not only for enjoying sex or producing babies, it is also relared to managing and maintaining genetic code of family. It is a value base commettment. Any sexual activity outside our marriage is not allowed. In the story of MAHABHARAT Draupadi was married to five brothers – Pandavas, and each one had one or mor other wife too. So it is an example of one to many and many to one sex partner. It means these types of relationships were existing in historical period too. On other hand, Ram and Sita never ever think of anything outside their marriage despite facing many odds according to RAMAYANA.

Open marriage is usually defined in terms of legally married, opposite-sex partners. Open marriage is a form of non-monogamy in which the partners of a dyadic marriage agree that each may engage in extramarital sexual relationships, without this being regarded by them as infidelity, and consider or establish an open relationship despite the implied monogamy of marriage. There are variant forms of open marriage such as swinging and polyamory, each with the partners having varying levels of input on their spouse's activities.

The term open marriage originated in sociology and anthropology, "closed marriage" to indicate the practices of communities and cultures where individuals were intended to marry based upon social conventions and proscriptions, and open marriage where individuals had the ability to make their own choice of spouse.

Common misconceptions of non-monogamy include that it violates principles of all religions, and that it is equivalent to polygyny - one man having multiple wives - or polygamy - a marriage of many.

Engaging in sex with a greater number of partners increases risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases but these concerns do not apply to open marriage alone.

Strong social disapproval of open marriage may lead to a loss of psychological and health benefits. People in open marriages usually hide their lifestyle from family, friends, and colleagues.

There are several rules for a successful open marriage, steering away from tradition does not mean driving into the Wild West of love and sex. While successful open relationships certainly require more from the involved parties - Clear Boundaries and Lots of Communication. There are many variations of open relationship rules, but they all require trust and understanding.

It's not a marriage. Marriage is closed between a man and a woman, husband and wife. It is not multiple people, and even then, thousands of years ago, they wouldn't have called it what people do today. You were either legally able to have a harem and had such higher status to do so, or what was done was illegal.

Don't get married, if you're still wanting to play the field.

I have studied this stuff. It's always exciting starting out, but it nearly always ends badly. Usually the husband almost always gets hurt, but it's painful to lose a relationship, and horrible when kids are involved with the marriage.

Sadly, I am hearing more people seeking out poly dating, while married, and some even come together as triads and multiple dedicated partners living under one roof. It may just be me, but I am hearing more women than men seeking these arrangements.

I guarantee that the man will not do as well in an open relationship. He will have to work hard to find a woman, whereas the wife can have dozens of sexual partners a week if she desired. Jealousy always kicks in after some time, be it a few months or a few years. Oddly, women have the hardest time reconciling, as they have to a little more to turn off their moral side, providing they have that, to let strangers easily have sexual access to her. Bored women don't mind being treated like porn stars starting up, but it will get to them at some point. They will leave the whole deal and marriage.

Best to get it all out of your system before marriage.

Open marriages are fine , if both parties are able to deal with the circumstance , things start to change when one has a change of heart , and the other is still active. Its a responsible way of progression , so long as its planned well by both parties.
I have had one friend who did this very successfully for 25 years , I was one of this wifes lovers , and both were completely at ease.

Marriage is meant as a commitment to eachother. If you choose to have a open relationship you should not be married because you don’t understand any is the values for marriage. I also think the marriage is not good, because true love doesn’t seek for more

I don’t believe in love. I know it’s real and exists but I don’t trust that the love someone feels is especially important. In divorce it’s very rare for the partners to admit to falling out of love. Here in the states 53% of marriage end in divorce and 80% of them are filed by women whom, according to their reasoning, still love their husbands. Besides this when marriage fails men are punished as breadwinners and forced to pay for the woman’s continued life until she remarries. When it happens in reverse, very rarely, women openly scoff at this whole process. Many men here in the states don’t value women anymore and marriages a terrible waste of effort.

It's not something I would get myself into. If I was married I would want my husband to be only with me and he would be the only man I would be with. That doesn't mean he couldn't have female friends or I couldn't have male friends we would be free to have them.
However if someone wants to be in an open marriage it's none of my business. It's their life, they can do whatever they want.

It's the same option I have on a lot of things. What ever floats your boat. Just don't expect me to be ok with it if it has a direct negative effect on me. People having a open marriage a block from me or even in the apartment build does not have a direct effect on me.

Not marriage. In marriage you are legally and spiritually bound as husband and wife until death. Open marriage is just a euphemism for being a shitty polygamy filled person. If you can't be with one person the rest of your life, don't get married

    I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

If it works for others, great, enjoy.
It's not for me. I want a monogamous relationship (or possible future marriage).

It is the same as being single with a roomate. She will have all the opportunity, you will have all the desire. Single men will line up to bang your wife. No one will line up to bang you.

It seems that marriage has lost its traditional meaning - and people make it whatever they want. Nowadays anything goes.

I've been with someone in an open marriage. They say they're okay with it but they really aren't, it's a lot of stress on the partner who is left out. It might be different if both partners are sleeping around.

Rate of divorce in USA is 53%… I don't know if you know the meaning of commitment. Ide argue with women filing 80% of these divorces women don’t understand the meaning of the word.

That’s not a godly marriage nor a marriage God will approve. Marriages based on God involve man , woman, and God.

So we can spend 355 nights a year in the same bed.

Open marriage doesn't necessarily mean sleeping around. Happily married people tend to like each other a lot and prefer each other as sex partners. The fact that it's okay to get with somebody else doesn't mean you do it all the time or neglect each other's feelings. I like not having to explain why I am out late or who I am with. I like knowing that if she wants to hook up with someone she has no reason to sneak around, she will just ask. The reason you marry someone like this is you are lucky to have them and would be a fool to let them go.

I see this as immoral. And 3rd or more people in marriage damage the marriage and feelings between couples. 3rd or more people in marriage is something that can never be accepted. Your culture may be corrupt. But in my culture this immorality is never acceptable. If you get married, you will live everything with your spouse. And these experiences are private between the two of you. Sharing the husband and wife with other people in marriage is a bad event. By the way, I'm an atheist. But I'm really strict on some things.
