There's very little statistical information on open marriages. If you search, you find this: "Different studies have resulted in conflicting conclusions about how open marriages actually function. One study says that 92 percent of open marriages end in divorce, supporting a common notion that marriage without exclusivity is doomed to fail. In contrast, data compiled by researcher J. K. Dixon indicate that 80 percent of wives in open marriages rate their compatibility with their spouse as excellent or good and 76 percent rate their sexual satisfaction the same way."
So, what do I personally think, as this question asks? I think it's a rather obvious answer - if it works for the couple involved, go for it. I don't have any moral issues with it, nor is my business. I know 3 couples who are in long term polyamorous relationships, one of which is still open while the other two are not. They have all been together for over 10 years, so statistically they've outlasted the average 1st marriage in the USA, though the median first marriage is closer to 20 years.
For some people they work. For most they don’t. Most fail to consider the consequences and think that they can have a little fun and then “close” the marriage back up. They don’t really consider what might happen if their partner is more successful at dating new people than them and may even find someone they like more. The amount of stories I’ve read where it blows up in their face is shockingly high.
I don't know of anyone personally with an open marriage, so I have no way to comment on an actual couple practicing open marriage. I think it's difficult enough dealing with two people and all the ins and outs of two personalities. Throwing more folk into the mix sounds like endless complications. I can't imagine it.
I'm in one and it works fine. Just need lots of good communication with your partners.
Yeah definitely that too
That comes over time and by showing them that you aren't a liar. Your partner has to even be into the idea of an open relationship to begin with as well.
No, it doesn't. You think it's working, but it's not.
Well, considering I'm in one, dating someone else and have been for months says otherwise.
Lol, good luck. Get back to me in 5 years and if you’re still married it’ll be a miracle.
Will do... right now.
We've been doing it for years and have already surpassed the 5 year mark being married. We've been together between dating and marriage for over 20 years. I'm pretty sure I can say our marriage is rock solid. I guess you could say we are that miracle you suggested.
Ok, assuming this is all accurate which is a 50/50 shot - you’re the exception, not the rule.
100% accurate. I have no reason to lie about it.
The fact is it works for some and not for others. I'm not an exception, but nor am I proof of it working for everyone. It really does take a lot of good communication and trust to work.
I don't get it. How do you maintain trust? Sometime, in most cases, something other than good intentions can creep in. Someone can possibly catch some feelings, and that creates chaos. What is the point of marriage to begin with if one wants to sleep around?
Catching feelings is the point for us. It's more of a poly relationship in that either of us is free to date who we want and start a relationship with them if it's right. For example, right now I'm married but I'm also dating a really great guy who now lives with us. We all talk like adults about what we are ok with, what we're not, and how we want our time to be split.

What is the point of getting married if you are not going to be faithful to each other? It's as stupid as going to a seafood restaurant and ordering a hot dog.
🤔😊😂🤣 If you have kids with you, that could certainly happen.
Open marriages work for some couples, but for the majority of couples, monogamy is the only way to go.
I get loving someone and them being your partner, your best friend but not working sexually anymore.
that the other parts of the marriage still work but the one missing thing is sex.
I think maybe if the sex is the only thing missing and everyone knows what is going on, it could work.
but usually with physical, emotional builds and then problems will result
What's the point of marriage if you still want to play the field?
Definitely NOT for me... Thank you.
no they don't work
that's like driving over a bridge made of balsa wood. sooner or later it will break
I believe in the concept of an open marriage, but only for the woman. I think the men should remain faithful and exclusive to their wives.
Why? Just cause that's what feminists like to hear?
They don;t work. Sooner or later somebody gets hurt.
Not always.
It's not something I would go for in most circumstances, but I understand why celebrities and such go for it.
Thats the same thing as a peaceful Nazi. Doesn't exist..
If it means that the woman would be fucked by multiple men than no, as that is very slutty.
I really works! IT JIST DOESN'T REALLY WORK FOR EVERYONE.
I've never been in one. Reportedly two couples I know have an open marriage, and they seem happy.
Maybe for some people. I'm not cool with it thoe.
They could ‘work’ technically, but there’s probably not much love there
It doesn’t work many times, but sometimes it does. If everyone is all right with it, it’s fine. Many people are/were successful polygamists.
A lot of men are already in them... without realizing.
It has been working for us for over 7 years.
Doesn't it go against the very being of the bible?
People who actually think this works are on another level of delusion.
The same way I think about marriage as a whole.. Don't fuck around.
Open marriages don't work because partners eventually disconnect with eachother from sleeping with other's people
They work for some people.
I've heard they can work, but I don't see myself ever getting involved in one.
That is for cucks like will "the Cuck" Smith and his dwarf wife.
Not to mention, why do you think their kids are ass backwards too? Should only take you a second to figure that one out.
The cheapest concept and the worst.
I don't know about marriage
Yes definitely n they r much better
i respect them and people who are in them
I see marriage as a monogamous commitment.
Swinging is a much better option.
i think its a retard idea
I'm open to closing them
Great for women, terrible for men.
Def not my thing
They sing about it
Divorce
I wouldn’t want one.
Not a fan,.
