+1 yIt's a stupid excuse made by people to sleep around, while still having someone responsible for their emotions and bills.
Even though i dislike Polygamy, it's still more logical than the open marriages. Because at least the people are married, they share responsibilities and its less likely to get diseases.
Look at the statistics more than 90% of open marriages fail and more than 80% of people in those relationships experience jealousy.
Open marriages are an excuse to cheat without looking like an ass and still keeping your spouse around for your other needs.
I'm so tired of people following animalistic instincts.51 Reply- +1 y

+1 yThe man is a fucking loser and going to be made the butt of every joke. Its morally wrong and his moral failings will lead to "cuck angst" where he will explode in some nonsensical fashion like Will Smith just did. This is why i won't hang out with them, they can be dangerous in unexpected ways I've seen this happen with guys more than just on tv, one stabbed someone with a pen so i just avoid their morally corrupt and violent outburts, they are bad people. Their wives are fun to have sex with though as long as i dont even have to meet the POS loser husband.

It will be fruitful, and sustainable, to people who can sustain freedom. Which goes far beyond being at liberty for a while in some things.
There is a book, a worthy one, written some 160 (or about that) years ago, where they say such people is one in ten thousand.
Perhaps it's one in one thousand. Perhaps one in five hundred.
It's highly unlikely it will work in a positive, life-improving, lasting way. And at the same time, there's nothing, probably, wrong with that in principle.00 Reply

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt's not a true marriage then because marriage is supposed to be a loyal committed relationship. If two people have no responsibility or obligation of exclusivity or loyalty, there is no reason to be married. An open relationship isn't really much of a relationship at all if it is just one of your multiple sexual or romantic partners. That also means the relationship has to have significant emotional detachment for people to be able to sleep around and avoid jealousy. Many open relationships are just excuses for one partner who isn't satisfied with their significant other to cheat with permission without getting in trouble. If two people mutually agree to sleep with others, fine. However being unfaithful literally goes against the meaning of marriage so people who are not even exclusive have no reason to marry whatsoever.
10 ReplyDoesn't exist, it's another liberal utopia.
Personally I'm not a fan of marriage altogether but if I was I'd want it to mean something.
That being said if a married couple came to me and the woman expressed interest to which the man had no objections i would gladly take part in the whole thing but my potential wife is off limits00 Reply
+1 yI have a good buddy with low libido
he gave me the option to have sex with his girlfriend
i trust this guy and he showed he trusts me
i felt very loved and respected and the girl was down for having me part of their relationship
while i have not flowed through with it
i understand there are situations and i appreciate the offer when presented
although i wouldn't want my wife having sex with anyone else
there's no reason for that00 ReplyThere may be it will work out with but I´m none of them, I don´t see much of a reason besides maybe juridical and tax advantages to be married in the first place if you want to see other people for sex also.
From my point of view it contradicts my definition of a marriage hence there is no special emotional bond between two people because they both have intimacy with others.
But if it works for you than give it a try.00 Reply

Call it what it really is...
a revolving 'Friends With Benefits'
The 'tricky' part is assuring ALL participating are disease-free and
responsibly using birth control. RECREATIONAL sexuality is JUST that.
Friendly with ongoing 'intimate' massage.00 ReplyDifferent strokes for different folks truly. For me I just couldn't I'm very attentive and to me learning someone is a strenuous thing to do. How she likes this, what happens when I do this... etc. With that behavior I would be expecting the same in return. I feel if the marriage was open it would cause more damage than it would benefits. I would constantly be bettering myself for the wrong reasons. I go hard for mine and I would like her to go hard for me.

+1 yCould be fun, needs some serious ground rules up-front too... even then, might cause some problems so not for everyone. But as far as I'm concerned, it's the lying and sneaking around that makes "cheating" such a "bad-thing" Also, helps if the couple (s) in question have Dom/sub leanings to keep the relationship roles functional and defined.

+1 yI've heard of some that work (swingers and what not) with rules that both people respect.
Personally, it could never work for me. I'd be jealous and I'd be disappointed that my husband didn't mind me seeing other men.30 Reply
+1 yWhy even get married at all if you want to fuck others on the side? Seems like a total waste of time. If you really want bang other dudes, then w/e go for it. Those dudes aren't gonna complain, but I would never marry a woman who wanted to fuck other men. I wouldn't even live with her. That's a friends with benefits arrangement and should not be taken seriously.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yIt's a fake pretend marriage for people who can't commit or stay loyal, but still want to say that they're married. It's basically an insult to real married people.
Some also use it as an excuse to sleep around and keep a Cuckold to pay the bills and watch the kids.00 Reply

+1 yI know some people who've made one work, but the majority of folks I know who've tried it just can't make it work. Three couples went back to being monogamous (including mine), two ended in divorce. The one that worked had so many rules and so much red tape that it sounded to me more like a business relationship than a marriage. It's a great fantasy, but I've never seen the fantasy become reality in the way everyone expects.

Could I be in an open marriage? Maybe, I don't know. It would be easier if my wife wanted to also see women.00 ReplyLOL at the religious fascist rantings. Seriously folks, if it's not your thing, just don't do it. But live and let live.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI see it as an option. I had sex without emotional attachment plenty of times to know I don't be default mix sex and feelings. If my man can do that to then down the line (like after 15-20 years together) opening up could be worth exploring.

Once it's a marriage, it's not open.
The term is an oxymoron. For more information on this, consult Will and Jada Smith.00 ReplyNot something I'd ever be interested in, but if a married couple are both open and OK with an open marriage, none of my business to tell them they can't.

Says who? If you're talking about biblical morality, did you conveniently forget that David, Solomon and many other biblical figures had multiple "lovers"
- +1 y
@Subarugirl They didn't do it 24/7 and asked to be forgiven and realized they were wrong. And Old Testament you could have many headaches, I mean women as wives. David sent the Chicks husband into battle knowing he would be killed , so he could have her. That was what he really did worse.

Solomon had something like 300 concubines… I don’t remember mention of him repenting…

@Subarugirl Oh yes , they prayed.
