My mother in law loves starting drama & playing the victim game, what to do?

My husband doesn't like drama either and doesn't want to start one so he takes her side often to keep the calm and not upset her. I'm forced to ignore the problem and be "nice". Clearly she's playing a manipulative game. Also, she's known for being toxic and a drama loving person in her family too, also started one with my sisterin law when she had a baby. What to do?

I'm sorry for your situation and I imagine there are some details in this story that are too much to bear.
Divorce is probavly your last option in your mind considering all you would have to fight for and leave behind.
So you need a new strategy and the lynch pin is your husband i. e., you need his support to recognized the toxicity your mother-in-law.
I think that there are some new formulas of communication you can try in order to get him to see the light. For example "It makes me feel unloved when you text your mother while on our date nights" (I hope he doesn't do this it just came off the top of my head).
The trick is to name a specific feeling and it's relation to a specific action of his.
I am sure there are books and blogs out there that can off more advice and tools for you to use.

I tried to before but found it just escalates the problem. I don't want my marriage ruined or my husband upset because of her. He also will turn against my parents as revenge

So your husband knows his mom is a drama queen, defends her if you get mad and will take it out on your family if you but in. Instead of living on eggshells, I'd divorce his ass and tell him mom to fuck off.
