Why are Indian families always pressuring men and women to be married? ?

My mother was arranged to marry a man who she doesn't particularly like and still doesn't after 37 years of marriage. Why should I agree to an arranged marriage or be married with my mother pressuring me?

Just stand up for your rights. Tell them you will marry who you want and when you want. You may not want to marry at all. Your choice, no one elses.
