Is a marriage worth it if there isn't a big wedding?

Say you just get certified married

Is the marriage worth it

Or would you rather have a big party and not get legally married

When im rich enough and if i find a female i love

Im gonna walk up to a bunch of random females and ask them to marry me in like 5 minutes

If they compliment me by saying yes so soon then ill love them.

We'll have a party every year celebrating the fact she worships me

I do enjoy big weddings, but my own was small. Well it wasn't "small" it was just cheap. A lot of people came though which is really the fun part, and we had good food.

Personally I really liked my wife initially, and over time grew to like her even more and on deeper levels. It's not that you only love the parts that took years to discover, it's that you love those new parts in addition.

Like seeing a peice of chocolate and think ooh I like chocolate, and then biting in and there's strawberry and think ooh I like strawberry too. And maybe you wouldn't marry just chocolate, but chocolate AND strawberry is a pretty sweet deal. Something like that. 🍓 🤎

It's unnatural for a man to rush into marriage or to only have a standard like, "she's female and smiles at me". But you go ahead and ignore eons of male wisdom. Maybe you're special and everybody else is wrong.

My marriage was go down to the court house and do with the justice of peace, as the actual big party is not for me, that is for the guests.

I wanted to not get married and have a big bill or debt from it.

A couple weeks after though, 'our' families decided to throw a big reception party in our honor, which was fine by us... cause it was not at our expensive.

I don't see the need to spend thousands of dollars of my own money for others to show up.

Marriage is a legal contract anyways.

How you get married isn't as important as who you marry...

While I wouldn't need/want a big splashy wedding/reception; I would never agree to marry someone 5 min. after meeting them. And hopefully neither would you. Anyone who would agree to marry you in 5 min just because you are rich, that would be about your money, not you.

Noooo, the big wedding's are almost a waste of money; certainly a very inefficient and extravagant use of money. Use it for a down payment on a property or something.

Of course, the wedding is just a tiny part of marriage. I definitely enjoyed our big wedding and wouldn't have changed it, but at the same time I would not have enjoyed it as much if it had costed us a ton. Anything that costs over 5k is not going to be worth the money.

Do what’s within your means don’t go into debt over it. If money is an issue you make a list and Circle a few things that you feel like you must have and then go from there. If all else was just go to the courthouse and get married then you can have a party for all your friends and family can celebrate

A large expensive wedding is one of the worst things a couple can do. It just puts them in debt that will hinder their ability to function as well together. Even if they saved up the money first, it still is a huge waste. They could have had multiple small vacations/trips or a few large/nice trips together and create good memories/experiences instead of a large expensive one day wedding.

My wife and I had a small wedding. Her sister got married the year before and we were both appalled at what a fund raiser the whole thing was. We had just the opposite and the people who were there said it was the best wedding they ever went to.

How lavish or small a wedding is really has no effect on how successful the marriage itself is. Put your time, effort, funds toward the marriage, and building that life together rather than on a single event. :)

We didn’t have a big wedding day. That was never my goal. Instead we had a very intimate ceremony just for us and our witnesses not even our families were present and it was still the best day of our lives.
