As the bride do I not get the final say in my wedding?

So my fiance and I are deep in wedding plan mode, and we've been having a few arguments about things.

The problem is, my husband-to-be wants it smaller, more intimate whereas I want a big day I can share with everyone, and we argued recently and I told him essentially that "I'm the bride, the wedding is focused on me, I get the final say" and he came back with "I'm paying for this, so yeah that doesn't work with me", and I don't know what to do. He refuses to budge on the budget.

I think you both have legitimate points, so I can't really agree, or disagree, with either of you.

You want a big wedding, with lots of family/friends, that you'll remember forever, but he doesn't want to start the marriage deep in dept for a single day.

Marriage is all about compromise, though, so maybe try and see if he'll meet you in the middle? The two possibilities that I can see are either:

1) Agree on a slightly bigger wedding than he wants, but a slightly smaller wedding than you would like. Some give and take from both of you.

2) Offer to help him offset some of the costs for the bigger wedding by chipping in some of your own money to cover the difference.

to your boyfriend, I support you man. to you, you self centred little diva, a wedding is not only about you, its about the day you become a married couple. your ego needs to show off what a princess you are to as many people as possible and it sounds like he understands the REAL value of getting married.

if the wedding happens, there is a very high chance it will end in divorce.

No, you are not the focus of the wedding. A wedding about is two becoming one. You are part of the equation, not the equation itself.

No, it is down to the both of you, while he may be marrying you, or you're marrying him, it takes TWO to make a marriage and all final says must be done by both of you, not one or the other.
