Why does marriage work within some cultures but not others?

If you take a look at some cultures such as jewish people: many of them marry at a very young age. Then they have a lot of children and they end up staying married for the rest of their lives. In American culture, people who marry at a very young age tend to get divorced as they approach middle age. In the 1920s, people married their neighbors and they stayed married for the rest of their lives. Its unlike modern americans where they date 10 people before they found "the one" but only to divorce 15 years later , stating that they can't get along any more.

Where lies the problem? Is marriage a concept that simply does not work or is it that some people are unfit for marriage?

People don't take marriage vows seriously. They don't understand the term "vow". Their parents AND schools never taught them. Add to that, the number of people who totally disregard ANY religion. It's THERE, where teaching about the sanctity of marriage is done. It's religion that defines the particulars of marriage. It's also religion where you see and learn that "love" isn't that giddy feeling couples have when they first meet and start dating. Love... goes FAR deeper than that!

Unfortunately, too many Americans think about sex and money as a primary goal of marriage. While marriage CAN supply that, it's certainly NOT the most important parts. When either of those two items don't work out, the couples decide to quit and get a divorce. Most Americans are never taught that about relationships.

Since too many people avoid going to church (of any kind), they have an extremely jaded view of marriage. Their ideas about marriage are very superficial, with zero understanding of what being married is all about. Too many, take an excessively selfish view of marriage - "What's in it for ME?" That viewpoint alone will cause 99.9% failure in ANY marriage!

People are unfit for relationships in general and marriage specifically. The culture encourages values and ways of life that aren’t compatible with a stable, loving and life-long marriage.

Heavily religious communities and much older societies aren't staying married because they're happier, they're staying married because their families will disown them if they don't.

The apparent superficiality of today's dating is world is a consequence of people feeling guiltless over the notion that they ought to do what they wish in their own love lives.

Because the values are in balance in some cultures because they didn't flush thousands of years of experience in the toilet, to encourage self-destructive behavior such as sleeping around, doing drugs, not needing self-restraint and spreading hatreds when it all blow up in their faces.

Many cultures still essentially have it set up that having a divorce essentially kicks u out of the culture or lowers the respect that others have for u that its pretty much not a option for I feel the issue is people get married and don't really want to be married they want to have a wedding or don't understand what goes into making a marriage work as soon as things get hard they want out or start to consider if they settled and could they find someone better

People don't take it seriously. Oh, social backlash over divorce and longstanding traditions taught to children are a part of that, but the key is that they WANT to stay married.

It's about collective agreement on a set of ethics, which Israel has kept to, whilst the USA has not.

Marriage works in all cultures. However some people have different priorities in life than others.
