There's no such thing as settling! There are compromises that must be made in order for any kind of relationship to work, if you feel you're "settling" with someone then stop waisting time and walk away. Time is something we all wish we could have more of, especially when you're older so have some respect and save yourself and your partner regret later down the line. Love is not a feeling, it's the selfless actions you take for someone you claim to love, it's the compromises you make for the benefit of your relationship, and it's the decisions you make to stick it out together no matter how hard shit gets. Of course there are exceptions, but if you're worth a guy that would give his life to save yours, don't leave him just because you're bored. When they say the best things in life are free, this is what they mean. The loyalty of most men for their woman is unbelievably strong, don't take a good guy (not talking about "nice guys") for granted.

Not just no, but HELL NO! If I am not as special to her as she is to me both of us are wasting our time. Just this morning I was reading an email from a friend that said his son's wife left him last night. I'm not going to get too deep into the story but this girl monkey branched into a relationship with another man that made more money. The friend's son is of course heartbroken, but he will recover. Please people NEVER settle. Oh and that wife? When I read that email I could hear the karma train leaving the station. When it hits her later it won't be pretty!

No. Settling or being settled for will not make one happy in the long run and relationship will end. You settle with someone you want to settle down with (married, kids, growing old together etc.) Not out of fear of loneliness or bored cause that will make you feel just as lonely and uninterested as before.

Settle or make a decision yes. I think people have this thing about having to "settle" which is basically them thinking they can do better and that the grass is greener on the other side, espicially women. So many women go through their teens and twenties always thinking they can do better but when they get into their 30s have to "settle" on lesser guys because the kind of great guys that were intrested in them during their teens and twenties are either married are intrested in girls in their teens and twenties. As for settling if you find someone that you like, are attracted too and you know are loyal and will make a good partner "settle" for them rather than throwing that fish back hoping for something better.

unfortunately a lot people do tend to settle and these relationships/marriages end horribly.

people don't often get their number 1 choice above all else, maybe 2 or more down the list. they can't seem to shake off idealization until it's too late. for some people, they try to upgrade to become the number 1 option in the eyes of their number 1. others end up regressing to the point, they are no longer anybody's number 1.

No, I'll happily just stay single instead. I'm already half way or a quarter of the way through my life so far, and many decades ahead for me to enjoy my happy bachelor lifestyle long into the future. I'm very happy not being married and not ever wanting marriage, or even a long term de facto. I'm very happy and more affordable being single. Single bliss

Better to be alone than settle with someone.

I've seen what happens with people who choose to settle. They are miserable to their core. Staying alone is far better than being with the wrong person. I would rather be lonely and still have my peace than to be lonely and live a life of misery.

No, if I thought I was settling (meaning I think I could find better), then I wouldn't lead the person on. It wouldn't be fair to both him and I. The world is already rather unfair, I don't want to make the world more unfair to him! I hope people would have the same mentality as me, but hell can't control others.

Wouldn't settle to get a girlfriend so why would I settle for a wife?
If a person is "Settleable" just be friends with benefits or date but never commit, just don't make commitments as you know you'll jump ship once you find something better.

No, i dated somebody for 4 years, I thought I loved her and we had talked about marriage. Still there was something missing in the relationship. I thought that she would really not make a good life partner. I had so much time invested in the relationship it was hard to break up with her but one miserable Saturday night I finally did it.

    1. That's unfair to that person, they deserve someone who chooses them, not settled for them.
    2. I have neither the right or privilege to settle, I'm the one people settle for.

From my experience, there are some people out there who are better at settling than others. There are a lot of people out there who are partnered or married simply due to the fact that they are good at settling.

Settling is not bad. I don't know how you're using the word, but you choose who you get to lay with and be with. That's basically settling... It's a choice.
