Don’t most guys propose after six months?

I have been dating a guy for about a year. He buys me gifts all the time but hasn’t proposed yet. He told me he wants to marry me, but he wants me to have a career that I like first. I am 23 and he is 25. I always dreamed of having kids in my twenties with a man because I don’t want to end up like my parents who are on their death bed from old age. I thought that most people get married after six months of knowing each other or something like that.

Honestly what I’m going to comment now is just some stupid thoughts and opinion I have so don’t take it to heart..
But
Well yes you can get married at 20s as a women that’s a beautiful goal but your boyfriend is 24. Usually men at that age have different goals let’s say he might be thinking “ I’ll work hard until 34 make money buy this and that and get married.” See there is no way gag member know what he likes and wants.. so you have to talk to him in person and tell him exactly what you wrote here at gag that you want to marry and have kids in your 20s. If you haven’t told him yet that’s very very bad. You have too.. so your precious time don’t get wasted away and you can find an older little bit mature man who wants to settle down.
Maybe because I live in NY I don’t know but all man friend I came across wants to settle by 30+.
Yeah we can’t really say exactly when he is going to propose you ! If you don’t know it we can’t know it either. And don’t base your future into statistics that it takes man 6 months to propose. It took my brother 6 years ! See everyone is different

Who told you this? A guy would really have to impress me and we would have to go through many life experiences already for me to even consider to accept a ring after 6 months of dating. Patience is a virtue and a guy proposing after 6 months doesn’t necessarily make him a quality man

Not usually, maybe after a year and then another year for marriage, but you don’t need to be married to have kids, I didn’t have kids till I was 33 and I’m not on my deathbed at all and now my daughters are your age and not thinking about marriage even yet

No they do not. Mostly, guys propose 1 to 1.6 years into relationship and married by 2 years.

I would say you don't know someone until you been together for 2 years after that you should be good to get into marriage if you two are really compatible and have lived together.

That used to be the case, but not any longer. Men who do propose tend to do it later in life now. But more importantly, many/most men are no longer willing to get married, for a lot of valid reasons.

To me that’s crazy. I would never get married so soon. Tbh, science says 7 years after knowing the person. I know no one wants to wait that long but I’d split the difference and go for 3 years +

6 months is pretty short vetting period if you're to spend a lifetime with the person. There's nothing to stop you from moving in together, or being very committed even if the time isn't right for marriage.
