Trending & News Pretty much no, like 90% sure, but also a little bit yes, but it would have to be a very specific set of circumstances and not very likely at all. Even if I met the perfect partner (s), I probably wouldn't get married anyway, we would just live together in love without that legal procedure/documentation.
For reference, I started off in my life fantasizing about marriage, when I was a teenager-20s. Like I would have a girlfriend and it would be so sweet to just lay there with her and imagine "what if she was my wife?" and it would just be so lovely to have that thought and play around with it. But also, I came from divorced parents who divorced when I was still a baby. Then they both got remarried and both of them got divorces a second time. So I see marriage as a flawed relationship model, and something with a high incidence of failure and not a good idea. My personal anecdotal experience is also backed up statistically. About 1/2 of marriages end in divorce. And that leaves about half left, many of which are not happy marriages but for whatever reasons the people choose to stay married (for negative reasons, not good ones like they are so in love and happy about the situation, crappy things like they don't want to lose their place to live or emotionally harm their children).
I did meet someone I was really in love with for a long time and I decided that I would ask her to marry me. I didn't really care about getting married, but I thought she would be happier, and her happiness made me happy. So it was a win-win. We had an amazing dream wedding and were so happy. But I also take marriage very seriously. I think that you should stay married if you get married, the idea is that it is for the rest of your life.

My new wife didn't feel as dedicated to the idea, and she asked for a divorce about 3 years later. So we divorced and are still friends, just not lovers. For me, this was just another proof that marriage is not for me.
I am so sorry, bro. And this just proves that you were right all along. It's sad, but reality is what we have to base our decisions on. So even though I believe in marriage, I support your decision 100%.
Meaning I support your decision to not get married again.
@Jamie05rhs thanks bro :)
You're welcome.
Yes and no.
I love the concept of marriage. I envy and want what my parents and grandparents had, what marriage used to be like. I do want that. But today more than half of marriages end in divorce and women initiate 80% of them (Google it), and it's no secret that men get screwed in divorce and family court.
I have watched many good men my age or a little older in my family and circle of friends have their lives destroyed by divorce. These guys married women they thought were good human beings but turned out to be self-centered, self-serving garbage. I want no part of that.
And yeah, I get it, men are not perfect, but if you want to understand what is happening to marriage today, just look at the divorce rates of lesbian, gay and heterosexual couples. The highest rate of divorce, by far, is among lesbian couples, the lowest rate is among gay (male) couples, and the rate among heterosexual couples is in the middle. In other words, women are the common denominator in divorce.
Women have all but destroyed the institution of marriage. Unless things change drastically, marriage will be a thing of the past in the next generation. And as marriage goes, so goes society.
You'd think so but no. Getting married is just a lot of... money and time to tell the world that I'm getting married. How about no and just live together. Hell, don't even need to buy a ring, just be with me and live with me. Don't need all that marriage shi just do that :)
I don't know, maybe. If I met the right person but as you get older and sicker, your chances of meeting that person slims not only because of that but also because people get hitched and have children and other commitments that make dating hard.

Yes. I got engaged last month.
The ceremony is going to be live-streamed on GaG, right?
@Mangospacho
@OlderAndWiser Congrats, by the way.
@Mangospacho Thanks!
Congratulations
@Cheerfull009 Thanks!
@OlderAndWiser That is great. Congratulations.
@exitseven Thanks!
50% of first time marriages end in divorce. 75% of third time marriages end in divorce. The average marriage lasts five years or less. 85% of those who file for divorce are women. Over 97% of those who win alimony and child support cases are women. About 85% of those who win custody cases are women. My dad got fucked by Family Court when he was put through it, and I know his story.
So, no. Absolutely not. Why would I form a contract with an individual who benefits way more from breaking it than upholding ut?
I had girlfriends from the time I was 16, but I had no interest in having kids or getting married. It wasn't until I was about 34 or 35 that I started to think about finding a life partner and settling down.
After a couple more girlfriends, I finally found the right woman when I was 40 and married her two years later. We've been happily married now for going on 27 years. She is 2.5 years younger.
Yu'll get more out of dating. a woman with her working for the ring and this providing what she knows she must, vs when you give her the ring, and she decides to provide when she wants only. I can't say, find I'll provide when I want and take a break from paying the bills.
I feel like most married couples are unhappy. I don’t want to get married and be miserable.
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic. However, yes, I do have some bad examples of marriage around me, but I’ve also seen great examples. Marriage isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and it certainly isn’t mine.
And you don’t need to be sorry. I have amazing family and friends.
Yes I want to get married and have a family together. I believe family is the most important thing in the world. The happiest people I know have strong, close-knit families. I was raised in one and I want to continue that traditions. I want to marry a good guy and start our own family together.
I am saying no. My mom is saying yes. Her argument is that she did not build the kingdom we live in for the relatives to take afterwards.
I need to get married then. I don't have a choice it seems.
And I am not dumb enough to lose the inheritance.
Real marriage as historically defined as the service to love and care for the mother/father of your children is a necessary and good thing for humanity.
Modern "marriage" as define simply as an expression of personal feelings is as pointless as it is logically undesirable to let anyone tell you what feelings your allowed to have.
A prenuptial agreement is a requirement before I would consider marriage. If there is any hesitation on her part or she gets upset when it is suggested I would end the relationship.
Ffs😅I’m sure you’re the absolute virgin millionaire catch every woman wants
@imawfulatusernames I’m dying 💀😂
@imawfulatusernames Your opinion has no value because you are a liar claiming in your other question that divorce doesn't favor women when it is proven that It does. With such a blatant and obvi6lie, your opinions are worthless.
And of course I am far better than anyone you will ever have in your life. You have no idea how rare I am.
@HighValue Just because she doesn’t agree with you does not give you the pass to call her a liar. Your opinions reek of arrogance and a false sense of superiority.
If you were indeed so “rare” as you claim, you would not be on GaG whining about how “all women are bad”. How do you know that you’re “far better” than most people in her life when you don’t even know her? This explains why you’re still single.
@HighValue Ahh, you’re one of those Americans.
Care to share why you THINK you’re better than everyone else? 😂
Feeling a bit presumptuous today, aren’t we? I don’t like anyone until I get to know them. I don’t know anything about her.
I’m not American, so I’m not familiar with all the looney politics you believe in.
@WonderBell99 I'll share some, but not too much.
Never cheat on anyone, trustworthy, never do drugs or alcohol, 6' 1/2" tall and VERY strong, (my best was benchpress 450 and curl 215 pounds), know martial arts, good with kids, teacher, 1 of only 3 people to pass all of the state educators exams out of over 450 teachers in my district, during the lockdowns I provided food to one of my former student's family of 7 for three months, talked another former student out of suicide, paid my mom's house taxes, and plenty of other things too.
@HighValue Listen man, I’ll be honest. You seem to have good values and that’s great, but boasting your accomplishments makes you come across as a pompous asshole. You don’t need to go around telling people that you’re good or better than them. It makes you a jerk and totally negates the whole concept of you being “good”.
A lot of people have done good things just like you. I’ve met so many kind, selfless people in my life. I don’t know you, but from what I can see, you really need to stop with the “holier than thou” act. Most women will find that repelling. It’s good that you help others, but it does not make you superior to anyone.
@WonderBell99 Notice how you knew nothing about either me or the woman that commented on my post and YOU automatically defended her and were against me?
YOU are a low quality ignorant person just for that.
Plus you lack intelligence by thinking that me having good qualities doesn't make me better. I am far better and my life has MUCH more value than your life.
@HighValue You’re absolutely hilarious you’re 42 and I’m assuming either alone or with a woman you pretend doesn’t hate you😅I actually have had a divorce and I can assure you divorce doesn’t favour women, go read up on the topic and not your angry mate from the pub. I think you need to realise that your high value is in fact non existent
@imawfulatusernames You're just a low quality liar. Any m as n that either has been himself, or knows people that are divorced know that divorce favors women. Anyone that denies it is a liar and their opinions have no value because of that.
Statistics also PROVE that divorce greatly favors women.
You are pathetic with your lies.
Statistics don’t prove that at all. Now why don’t you just go back to your miserable existence
@imawfulatusernames You are not even good at lying. Anyone can look up statistics and know you are wrong.
@HighValue LMFAO “low quality”. Honey, we all know who the low quality person here is — and it’s most definitely you.
I know enough about you from the comments you post to make a judgment. You are an arrogant piece of shit. ✌️
@WonderBell99 You are just a jealous pathetic POS person that is angry because you were too weak minded to make good decisions in life. You hate people that are stronger willed and made better decisions in life because by comparison it shows how little value your life is. Don't blame others for YOUR bad decisions. Take responsibility for your own inadequacies and try to be better instead of being trash.
Under current laws, only if I am diagnosed as terminally ill, and then only so I can pass on my assets to my best friend without her having to pay inheritance taxes and having my house reassessed.
When we were together, every day was happy and happy, until we got married, things changed more, some things were more serious than I imagined, people who like you at the beginning will not hit you, and they will coax you every day Happy to take you shopping, until you get married, some things will not tell you, but the family is doing it secretly, when you find out by yourself, you will know everything from it.
I did last year. I was very avoidant over my life and afraid of getting married and having kids. Took a long time to get past those hangups and poor conditioning in childhood.
I don't know, maybe I guess
I've pulled engagement rings apart and scrapped wedding bands long enough to becone cynical so I guess it'll take the right woman to make up my mind
Nah, the act of it is pointless.
I'd rather have a long term relationship without being married.
Married, certainly. Plus a pregnancy. Just not certain whether first mutual coitus/marriage should also be pregnancy.
It is a dud deal. Median length of 8 years married. 80% chance of not my choice to divorce by 8 years.
Do I look that stupid?
A very strong yes. For me, a sacred relationship like marriage is very important. I have been single for a long time and want to find a good Decent guy to settle down with.
I'm not sure yet, but I guess I do. I just think I'm getting too old to get married Lol
We’ve put it off for years. Hopefully this year we can agree to a date and let families know.
I have been very happily married for almost 4 years.
I'm too ugly and useless to get married, plus I don't know, marriage sucks and there's a lot of bs that comes with it, so no thanks
Yes, I would love to get married.
I want to, but I can't.
I promised the love of my life that she's the only girl I'll ever marry and now she's dead.
Marriage is off the table
Yes to an extent but I also know that so far most people annoy me after a while.
I did. It's a dead dream. I can't even get a date.
Yes but he is taking me for granted
Some days when he realizes I’ll be old with no teefies
Absolutely. I’m not going to get with someone who I have no standing with
The only thing a man gains when getting married is a woman to have sec with consistently. Even then it’s bound to stop eventually. Men end up loosing everything
It's mostly a religious thing or a woman thing. Not for me. I do like the food and dance part Tho..
I've been there and done that and still have the scars. Never again.
There's no point to anything and hopefully I won't live long enough to be able to do that
Why buy the cow when I'm getting the milk for free?
More than anything... but it'll never happen sadly
Just got married second time. So yeah.
Hopefully someday
I am too old for marriage. I waited price save me but he never showed up
