My parents say when you attend a wedding - you should at the very least cover the cost of your own plate at the wedding. So if your friend pays $50 for your meal and accommodations at the wedding feast, you should give at least $50 x 1.2 = $60 in monetary gifts to the groom. I would give $1.5x just in case others attend the wedding and give nothing to the groom.

Depends on you. If you make 10 folds the average wage in your country, $200 is not enough, if you're living on social benefits is $200 a lot of money as a gift.

If they're a friend, probably ~$50
