It depends on how marriage is approached - my wife and I approached it as a business partnership, with lawyers and prenups, and insofar the arrangement has been mutually beneficial for both of us and our businesses, both shared and separated.
Another big plus on which my wife insisted on, is that being married we can't be made to testify against each other. Not that we did anything wrong, but you never know nowadays.

As long as unilateral no-fault divorce exists, I see no real benefit to anyone, especially if that person has assets and/or serious earning potential. It used to be mainly guys who got fleeced in a divorce, but I am seeing more and more women who are the primary earners getting blindsided by a divorce and then getting hit with that half of everything including her pension account from work and open-ended spousal support (alimony) because the couple was married more than ten years. Imagine having a cheating spouse and then to add insult to the injury, being ordered by the court to pay that person $3K or more per month till that person remarries.
Not all men cheats! And those who end up doing that, 8 out 10 times, there are underlying reasons as to why one cheats! With that said, I thought marriage was all about the person you love and the commitment of wanting to be with them... didn't know you didn't to ramble the benefits!
Somehow reading the tone in which you wrote your sentences, gives off a vibe of you being pissed somehow.
