It was a woman you weren't officially with, but you could see that she was the least dramatic, most rational woman you've ever met. You weren't overly excited about her, but she had realistic expectations about you (she wasn't in love with you, but would be obedient towards you for the sake of the child, plus she wants to have sex with you). She also is okay with a prenup, and the option for you to marry 3 other women. What would you do? Marry her, or provide child support, or run away?
Pretty sure this is the dilemma as old as time for single people.
Following the context you gave about the woman in question being essentially "a decent woman" there is still a lot to think about. As a man, especially as just your average guy working an average job with an average rank in said job... It still usually makes you feel like your life is being taken away from you. Your future is gone and you now must step up as a provider and dedicate the next 18 years of your life to a flesh monster. Decent woman or not, she's not even in the picture when it comes to the mental gymnastics going on for him in his head, it's between the man and his hypothetical relationship with his unborn child. These women don't seem to get that she is not really in the picture when he's making the decision, you're just giving birth to the child but in reality, we are only there because there is something inside her that legally belongs to ourselves as well. There's going to be a lot of "Can I even raise this child?" "how the fuck am I going to pay for it?" "am I ready to become a father?" Decent woman around or not, the dude is about to have a major reality check and I can assure you he will be panicking.
Also, bruh, in what world do you think this dude has the funds to support 3 other wives? Every dude I know would love to be having sex with 3 women but in reality, being married to 3 sounds like a time-consuming and emotionally consuming nightmare. Even if he had the money to support 3 women, I assure you, after a few years, he is going to be fucking miserable with how much he has to work to support them.

I'm 18 so that would be a huge challenge. I have always used condoms to avoid this very thing. If it did happen I'd sit down with the girl and ask what she thought of the various options.

LOL why would he have the option to marry 3 other women? What would even be the point of marriage then? If I wasn’t in love with her , and she was t in love with me no way in hell would I even consider marriage period I definitely would still help her raise and support the baby for sure. I don’t believe in abortion , I don’t care what anyone Sally’s , abortion is murder

Girl you created a 1 in a million woman if she doesn't want to also see other guys normally i wouldn't want to marry anyone and would actually try to (there is no way of saying this better) take the Child if it was a boy and she was willing to give him to me (not to be sexist here but i can't raise a girl alone i raised my Sister and that was (and still is) hell yes i love her and we have a good relationship but it is also too anxiety inducing and i still dread the day she will come to me with a guy (which i will flip if she hide it from me or did anything with him before marriage at least) so please not this shit again a boy is Fine not many things to be anxious or worried about the worst thing he can be is a drug addict, homosexual (not to sound homophobic i have nothing against them but i am religious and i don't want my son to go to hell for something like this) cuck (which would make him no more my anything he can rot in a pit yes i don't have anything against lgbt but i absolutly hate undignity) but you created an absolutly amazing woman so yes i think i would marry her even if i am anti marriage (me being religious doesn't mean i support marriage)
10 Reply420 opinions shared on Marriage & Weddings topic. In March 1992, I was 29. It was 2 months since my ex-GF Cyn dumped me on her mother's 50th birthday after being together almost 17 months. She, herself, was just turning 24. I was devastated because I wanted to marry her. We were graduate students at our college and it was Spring Break...
Anyway, we got to be talking then and she mentioned that, in the past, she'd always ask her boyfriends "What would you do if I got pregnant?"
I was a little puzzled because she was a virgin and I was fine with leaving her that way until I married her...
But, I was immediately puzzled and asked her: "Cyn, how come you never asked ME that question?"
She said,
"Because I already knew what the answer was."
It was actually one of the greatest compliments of my life.30 Reply
+1 yI don't believe in premarital sex and I'm still a 43 years old Virgin, and I don't miss the sex i never had.
You people are polar opposite of me, and you're all lucky as hell you've never caught something incurable. Medical statistics in the State of Louisiana show about 1 in 4 adults in the USA has at least one STD, while 1 in 6 Adults in the United States has contracted an incurable STD. So you really must need to be a lunatic to go around having premarital sex with all these other people who have premarital sex.
Condoms do not prevent the worst STDS, nor were they ever designed to do that. If the man takes the condom off by hand, he gets the woman's fluids on his HAND and that is enough to transmit HIV/AIDS or Herpes, neither of which has a real cure at the moment, regardless of what drug commercials claim.
20 ReplyIt's called a staircase and it has many functions 🙂.
Just kidding.
I would definitely consider it based on more than her description. Am I financially stable and emotionally available at the time? Am I seeing someone else? Do we live and work in the same city?
Logistical questions come to mind.
But assuming it makes sense and we do have a romantic connection I'd be open to it.
But I would definitely not just tie the knot due to a baby with someone I'll be miserable with that's where the staircase come to mind10 Reply
+1 yIf I got a woman pregnant and she decided to keep it, of course I'd want to be involved in the child's life. I would want my name on the birth certificate and to be legally the father at least. Whether I'd marry the woman is a very different question though—especially the woman you describe. She doesn't seem like the type I'd approach for a relationship or sex, but even if I didn't want a relationship with her I'd still want to help raise the child.
That may involve temporarily sharing a living space, getting a joint bank account to share child-related expenses, and after a certain point negotiating some sort of split custody agreement. Since she's rational, has realistic expectations and isn't in love with me, I hope she wouldn't have a problem with that way of handling the situation.

+1 yIf she is the woman he is not officially with and she doesn't really love him why on earth would they have sex then. Why do it unprotect and create something. They will be fucked for life. Because the child would connected for ever.
I'm to old fashioned about this.
If there is no love.. go and stop fooling around. Think before you act so you don't have to run. Because you must , you don't have to mary a woman you don't really love.
And everybody will be happy... No pressure
00 ReplyI would run because obviously I'm nothing more then a paycheck to her to provide her and her child.
Maybe it's nice to be able to marry other woman but almost 0 woman agree with me having another wife.
So then I'm stuck in s marriage with someone that isn't genuinely loving me for being me and my options of finding true love after that are pretty much wiped out24 Reply- +1 y
Why should I wanne marry a woman that isn't in love with me? To me that makes no sense. Being married doesn't bring anything positive with it for a man, he doesn't get any advantages he didn't have already before he was married to her.
Marriage may brings certain benefits for woman but definitely not for a guy. For us is more a disadvantage that's why we are very carefull these days with getting
married.
Marriage cost us a shit load of money, in most cases the woman are choosing to divorce us taking half of our shit with them and then we have to pay her child support as well for many many years.
Give me any good reason to marry a girl that isn't even in love with me?
I guaranteed she is most likely going to divorce me and take the benefits from it eventually 🤷♂️
+1 yMarriage? Oh HELL nO! I’m not afraid of marriage I’m just not stupid enough to do it nowadays prenup or not there are legal loopholes. On the flip side if I got a woman pregnant pending a DNA test I would man up, be responsible & just because you get someone pregnant doesn’t mean you have to get married.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yIf I got her pregnant, I would immediately propose. Pretending to be afraid of marriage is the perfect way to keep a woman. She will have a boost of confidence knowing that she “changed” me into a marriage person when I was trying to marry her the entire time. If you tell a woman that you want to get married early on, she will be turned off so you have to pretend that marriage is a social construct and that you’re against the societal norms and then she will be hooked. Plus, having a boyfriend as a project to change into someone she likes is a key motivator in a relationship.

+1 yEven though I am not afraid of getting married again... I would be really concerned if she got pregnant, because there is no way in hell it could have been me as my dog and I went in for a two for one special.🤔
She'd obviously have some splainin to do and considering she would have cheated on me, I could have a lot of fun with it and make her sweat.

+1 yPersonally I would tell my brother and all of my male friends, cousins, colleagues if the situation happened to get DNA testing and make sure that the kids theirs before they ever propose marriage. I told them that whenever I hear their so-called girlfriends are pregnant
In today's day and age being a tramp scene two or three or five different men is normal and even considered acceptable. And nobody deserves to raise somebody else's bastard
00 ReplySince I don't believe that abortion is a form of birth control. I would man up and definitely help raise the child, financially, whether we got married or not.

+1 yget 100 more pregnant LOL. And then 100 more. What's the deal, they were not taking the tablets for a reason, no? Becoming a single mother must be their dream come true, who am I to stop them or tell them otherwise? And they wanted the sex too, obviously. They got everything they wanted, it's only fair that their men also gets everything they want. And what men want is spread their genome far and wide by breeding the female masses. Simple. no?
00 ReplyI would only support the child if it were proven to be mine - BUT that will never happen with me, as every time I have had intercourse I have used condoms and spermicidal gel, which I'd bought myself, and If any woman refused to have sex with me while I'd be wearing a condom the sex did not happen.
10 ReplyWell... first "i would not".
Simply cuz in 2023 the technology is way too advanced for someone to say "oops... got her pregnant".On the other hand, if I got her pregnant, well... i guess it's "getting married".

Two why would she want to marry me if she wasn’t my first pick? I’d want a DNA test as well. I’d more than likely be willing to take the child if she doesn’t want it. But marriage? No.

I've already committed my entire bring to one person. Had a kid with them. Just to have them destroy everything.
I have primary custody, so, now I'm getting a vasectomy to protect my kid and myself from anything like this happening again.
Never again will I marry, nor will I ever have more kids.00 Reply
