Mom said she was there for dad, because she would've left us years before, but she loved him too much to leave him stuck taking care of us by himself. Although it seems to me whenever mom was away for a few days and dad was in charge, everything ran like clockwork and was polite.

This was a woman who wanted kids until she had them. There are so many reasons my sister and I do not have kids now, and they mostly go back to her mother-of-the-year-ness.

Dad was cool though.

A parent needs to take care of themselves in a positive and constructive way. So that they are able to support their kids.
Just like how you’d put the air mask on you first if the planes ✈️ going down before you assist the person next to you.
I’d never put my man first. That’s a big hard no.
