Do you want to get married and why?

I had monogamous relationships with girlfriends from the time I was 16, but I knew I wasn't ready to get married. I had no interest in kids, either.

I needed to experience life. I had the greatest time and accomplished a lot between my late teens and early 30s. I couldn't have done that if I had been tied down with commitments.

It was in my early 30s when I started thinking of settling down and finding the right person to spend the rest of my life with.

One woman, who I wound of loving with all my heart was 30 when I met her. I had never loved anyone so deeply. I was 36. We lived together for over a year. She loved me, too.
Unfortunately, we were not destined to be life-long partners and separated for reasons that are too complicated to explain, but had nothing to do with cheating or anything mean.

I met my (future) wife when I was 40. She was 37. We have been happily married now for almost 27 years.

I wanted a trusted collaborator and partner, best friend and lover, to share the rest of my life with. My wife has proven her loyalty repeatedly. We've been there for each other through thick and thin. We have also had a lot of fun and built a wonderful life together with a view to the future. I would be lonely and miserable without her.

I always thought of marriage as a lifelong commitment, a pledge of honor and solemn vow. I don't break promises. My wife feels the same way.
I waited until I thought I was mature enough to begin that chapter in my life.

In the past, my wife has even enrolled us with couples counselors a couple times with my consent. Not because we were having trouble, but to seek ways to keep our marriage healthy and happy. As a result, we learned a lot about ourselves and each other, gained communication skills, and learned other things. That's how dedicated we are to our marriage. We love each other deeply and are dedicated to each other's happiness and welfare.

Marriage to me is a demonstration that two people are 100% committed to each other. It's not something you can just walk away from. But you have to choose your partner carefully.
