When I was young, I didn’t picture myself getting married until around 30ish. I ended up getting married at 23 and haven’t regretted for a day. It definitely has its challenging moments but the good times definitely outweigh the bad times. I wouldn’t change a thing.

I think a marriage means “I promise”. I promise I will stay by your side. We will work things out and not just give up. We will help each other as much as possible when one or the other needs you.

An attitude of growth but also acceptance. I love you for who you are now, but I will also be the cheerleader or coach if you realize you need to make some change and growth as a person.

Marriage, to me, is a point of no return. It makes official a real commitment to the idea that the individuals are forever intertwined, that A’s life is now also B’s life and vice-versa. Whatever may come, we will see it through together.

I think that marriage can mean something entirely different to someone with a different history and attitude. Although I am a child of divorce, I refuse to think of my future marriage as disposable.
