it depends on how long the couple was in the relationship before the marriage...

I would set the 3-year rule. 3 years is after 2 big crises in the relationship, so we can say that the relationship is somehow mature. The wedding could be a life-changing event, but partners know each other, know their likes and dislikes, and create working communication. At this moment, the decision to have a baby is quite reasonable and should be safe.

if the relationship is younger than 3 years (and we don't count from the first date but from the first day of living together) I would recommend to first mark 3 years of living together before thinking about kids

I personally like more 5 years rule as a lot of divorces and break ups happen before the 5 years mark :D

Have them right away. With my 5 kids I regret not having them closer together and sooner. I didn't realize till after I had them what a big deal it was because the older me and my husband get the less time we have with them. My biggest regret in life is the time I wasted waiting to be ready to have a baby and then ending up infertile for awhile 😕

I got married in January and had my first kid in November. It was hard to make the adjustment and we were really poor too but I am glad we did not wait. Our kids are all done with college and living on their own and my wife and I are still young enough to enjoy life.

I think it's best to wait a year or so, that way you and your spouse can know each other as husband and wife.

However, if kids come then they come lol. It's not the end of the world if you have kids right away, you can still know each other as husband and wife, you'll just also be getting to know each other as husband/father and wife/mother.

With how expensive everything is now a days? No, you both should be working and saving like crazy. My parents had more kids than they could afford at a young age and it made their dynamic in our home a nightmare growing up.

This is terrible advice. Taking a few years to save isn't gonna do much to help in the future just due to inflation. It's smarter financially to have them sooner to beat inflation. I think it often with my 10 year old that he was one the smartest things financially I've ever done in life cuz I had him way before prices went crazy.

Well, if I get married, I don’t want to have kids right away. That’s basically what happened to my parents. They got married and then, four months into their marriage, my mom was pregnant with me. I couldn’t imagine. 😵‍💫
