Is it an insult if a man says that a woman's kingdom is in her kitchen?

In the past, everyone used to say that a woman's place is in her kitchen, i feel that it was degrading because women back then couldn't do anything outside the kitchen, but these days what's wrong if a woman likes to cook and she loves her kitchen as a housewife, so what's wrong if a man tells her that her kitchen is her kingdom? 🙂

I think it comes across as saying that's the place she's best and I guess some people might consider that an insult. As noted in other opinions on this, intent has a lot to do with it. And that's pretty much true about anything we say. Mostly, I really think there is a whole lot of oversensitivity floating around these days. I deal with that by taking things on the lighter side and injecting some humor whenever possible. Humor goes a long way towards making a point, smoothing things over, or just plain making life a lot more enjoyable!

I know my sister would agree with you. She was a homemaker for 50 year's and you could always find her in her kitchen baking something or cooking dinner.
She spent most of her life in her kitchen making so many different types of food for her family and we all loved her food. That was her calling.
She kept a very clean home as well and took very good care of her family.
I always envied her because she was able to be a homemaker and that is what I wanted to do with my life, but I had to work for 30 year's day instead😥

I believe it came from our mother since we are Fatherless Daughter's.
I was a very good wife at one time and happily married when I was young. I did everything my sister did and worked a job full-time.
But my home was always clean, meals were always made by me even though my husband was a cook in the U. S. Navy on a small minesweeper boat with a crew of 39.
I would love it when my sister would call me at work just before quitting time and invite my son and I over for a nice home cooked meal. Sometimes she would make my favorite dinner which was breaded veal cutlets, real mashed potatoes and gravy, a vegetable and homemade fudge brownies. She made the best!!!

Because my father abandoned us when I was 4 years old and my sister was 6 years old.
He never paid child support and started another family with someone else.
He basically had nothing to do with me. I only saw him a handful of times in my entire life.

Oh wow! Sorry to hear about this miss sage, it made me sad...
I always wonder how can someone leave his own kids which are created from his own flesh and blood? Plus he got married to a woman, shouldn't he stay with the same woman forever and make a family only with her? Also so that the kids grow up seeing the huge love between their parents and so that they see how much they love them and take care of them of too?

I can never do such things in my life, 1st i don't believe in divorce unless there was cheating and i'll never leave my kids, not will i take care of them financially, i will take them so they live with me, i want to take care of them and give them love and everything...

You could claim anything she had to do was degrading... meanwhile I guarantee you that the man was expected to do MUCH more & less pleasant stuff. And women were free to work in factories LONG before the era of that picture you show. if she thought it was more in her interest to work 12-16 hour days in a factory than being in a cozy home, she could go that route.
