Of all the benefits other users have listed here, the only one that is unique to marriage is the financial advantage. All the others are just benefits of a healthy relationship, not just marriage.

Also, someone said living longer is a benefit to marriage, which is false. Living longer is a benefit of a healthy marriage, but the majority of marriages are NOT healthy. Half of marriages end in divorce, and many of those that don't are not happy, healthy marriages. Studies that show married people live longer have two major flaws. First, they group divorcees with unmarried people, thereby skewing the results significantly. And second, in order to compare the life expectancy of married versus unmarried people, by definition they have to wait until someone dies. So the vast majority of married people were old and got married during a time when marriage was very different than it is today, with much more benefits for men than today's marriage offers.

So, what are the benefits of marriage? Financial advantage, that's it.

That's complex. Marriage is a legal condition that has advantages and may also have disadvantages. In the US at one time for a couple where their individual incomes were nearly equal, marrying increased their tax liability. I believe that since then the "marriage penalty" has been eliminated by allowing married couples to either file jointly or to file two separate single returns.
