What are your marriage customs?

Since I am a Muslim, the man has to wear gold to his wife during the wedding. These can be bracelets, necklaces or rings. Of course, gold is worn according to the man's financial ability.

In Islam, marrying 4 women is accepted if equality is ensured and there is no discrimination between women. Also, Allah recommends monogamy. In the time of the prophet, men went to war. When there were few men left, women were left too many. In Islam, everything was reduced to 4 women to stop men who had at least 12 wives.

Our marriage customs here in the US are that the man has to have a lot of money that the woman can then take in the subsequent divorce 2 years later

When it comes to marriage, Indian culture includes many things. A marriage could last for days, weeks considering all the events that take place.

But I'm a Muslim so I'd prefer to keep to simple, just a simple nikah, a walima and khalaas! Modest, simple and peaceful. My family does follow customs influenced by the culture. I am not a fan of them.

Our customs mean we can choose the music played at entrance and exit from the building, after the ceremony. A tough call!
