7 moIt’s great when done right. Many never last… Many people have simply one sided views. Some men expect their woman to come home after working to do all the house work. Some women expect their men to work 70 to 100 hours. And then come home and do chores.
Many people want money…. They want status. They think being a housewife is easy. Until they get into the marriage. Kids are screaming, they’re doing most the chores, cooking. And are completely exhausted. They become resentful. There becomes a issue where neither person feels valued for the roles they play. There is mistrust when there is periods away from one another. As well as when the man’s working a lot. Spending time together.
Sadly. Most fail. There is lots of affairs that happen because the opportunity is there during the hard seasons of marriage.
In a real traditional marriage. It’s 50/60. How? Both people are working EQUALLY hard in different roles. And just. Many times two people don’t really want to put that effort in.

Many women who wanna be trad wives are narcissists. NOT ALL…. But they don’t wanna marry for love. They marry because they want money and a easy life.
It’s not easy… most become very resentful. And cheat. Many of these men cheat on loyal women too.

You're welcome and thank you. Merry Christmas to you as well!
2.1K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It's nice. Money isn't really a problem as long as you know how to manage it. My parents managed it even on the roughest of income years. I'm not even that great at managing it, for that matter, but we are doing fine and live comfortably. Now that I'm pregnant it's especially good, I couldn't imagine dealing with pregnancy symptoms while working out on a job. I can take my time and not worry about what the stress is doing to the baby. Before I was pregnant, I could focus on creating a healthy home for us, which of course also helps create healthy genes to pass on to our kids. Not everyone can do it these days, but it's what my husband and I like.

That’s the other issue. If a woman’s just blowing her husbands money. Not managing it….

True, men and women have to be increasingly cautious when picking a spouse. Although mismanaging money isn't limited to the wife blowing the money. Money mismanagement most often looks like two people who simply don't know how to live within their means, which seems to be a cultural problem all around today. Also the wife has to be comfortable telling her husband when he needs to cut back on spending, eating out, etc..

Marriage is what you make it.

m 7 moIt's definitely too rigid an idea to please me.
I'm happy without gender roles, as I would suffocate if I waw in a box where I have to behave accordingly to whoever wrote anything for me on that box. I don't like to put her in a box either, and I don't like the idea that she could want us to obey, each, to a scripted role. I find it particularly unromantic, if not revolting.
There are boxes, socially, I can't avoid, but the ones I can avoid, like gender roles, I gladly avoid it. I also live in a social environment that makes it easy to avoid it lol, since I would have to dig deep to find any girl wanting to be a tradwife. Tradwives aren't trending at all around me. It's the exact opposite.
10 Reply 7.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. We had a very tradition marriage. It was something we decided on before we got married. My wife stayed home with our kids for 11 years and we lived on one income. I was not a big earner so it was difficult at times. I really lived by my wits but I learned how to live frugally and maybe game the system when I could. We did not want strangers raising our kids.

7 moI'm in one and I wouldn't have it any other way. The man has to be committed to making more money and the woman needs to be supportive for this to work. If a man is committed to making $100k a year in the US, he can but it takes hard work and a lot of support.

u 7 moI'm all for it. As to how much a man would have to make, I think that depends on a variety of factors. Those would include where they live, what their lifestyle is like, how many kids they have, and a host of others that have since escaped my memory in the last 15 minutes.

7 mo"Traditional marriages" are more of a 1950s thing solely since throughout history the husband and wife were both working usually.. Just different from today where both are away from the home. But, $67,000 a year can definitely support a household if the means are of spending are not above what is made.. And you live in a place that'snot expensive.. But I would like make enough money to support a wife and kids..

7 moi mean it depends on your standard and on where you live. in new york city, you probably can't even survie on your own with 60k a year. but in the rural areas, you can live a lush live with a family like that. i mean do you really need to buy a new phone every year, a new car every 5 years? there's a LOT of expenses you can just reduce to be able to have a family. money stretches far further if you don't buy a star bucks coffee every single morning.
10 Reply 6.8K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It's extremely risky for the woman, because if the marriage ends, and they often do, she will be reentering the job market with no experience and no marketable skills. It's not fun being a single parent working an entry-level job.

7 moTHAT is the Dirty Little Secret of Feminism and "girl boss" boasting. The reality is that economic futures are shaky, and relationship futures are even more shaky.
10 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. A lot of people feel more comfortable with traditional gender roles. It is not necessarily practical now because the economy has been structured for both men and women to be working

7 moIt’s just I would want my family to blossom and thrive, and right now it just feels so restricting. Most people live paycheck to paycheck, and I would rather just not have children in such a constrictive environment
10 ReplyYeah, it's a nice thought, but if you want kids and any lifestyle near that of the 1960's both parents have to work.
Unless one parent makes $225K a year. It's absurd. They have destroyed the currency.

7 moIf you mean the wife stays at home and doesn't provide no income at all that's only for dudes that make significant income or for the couples who just likes to eat rice and beans 7 days a week with little to no amenities at all.

there's this guy on YouTube... who goes to supermarkets and stores and asks grandpas and grandmas how much they paid for their first house and the answers are just "ridiculous"
anything from 35,000 to 3,500k in some cases... that's just insane, even when "adjusted for inflation" it is actually insane
7 moI'm for a traditional marriage and a housewife for life 😄
That's what makes me happy and comfortable...
