Seems crazy to me. There are just so many drawbacks to being a single mother especially in the US. Chances of children raised in a broken home turning to crime, drugs or sex work significantly rises. Statistics of women being a victim of domestic violence rises if they come from a single family home. Then there's the mortality rate of having a child on your own, which makes sense because in the US it costs a minimum of $12,000 to give birth but in the UK it costs $2000.

There's a significant rise in the mortality rate of being a single mother.

One of the best things about having a partner is knowing you dont have to go through it alone and raising your child is a two parent family significantly raises their chances in life.

Your statistics (I won't debate them) don't back up your assertions about "choos[ing] to be single mothers".

Many single parents are divorced or even had their spouses die.

Solo parents are older, more educated and more likely to have been married than cohabiting parents

Cohabiting parents are younger on average than solo or married parents. Their median age is 34 years, compared with 38 among solo parents and 40 among married parents.

Cohabiting parents have lower levels of educational attainment than other parents, due at least in part to their relative youth. Cohabiting mothers and fathers are about equally likely to have never married. Among solo parents, however, mothers are more likely than fathers to have never been married (51% of solo mothers vs. 36% of solo fathers), suggesting that solo mothers and solo fathers may take somewhat different paths to unmarried parenthood.

Single moms don’t choose to be single because it’s bad. It’s often the only logical choice in whatever situation they’ve gotten into. I have a friend who is a single mom to her two daughters. Her ex husband was the “perfect man” until she got pregnant with her first child. Then he showed his true nature. He became horribly abusive, both verbally and physically, and the breaking point came when they took a family holiday together with their two kids, she was driving and her ex husband smacked her hard over the head with a bottle, almost crashing the car and putting their kids lives at risk.

When that is the situation you're faced with, it doesn’t take a genius to understand why being a single mom is better than being dead.

Kids should be brought up in a loving home. It's the most important period of their lives, the one that will determine who they are as an adult. Father and mother are equally important in the process and both should get involved as much as they can.

But I don't agree you necessarily need a father figure. I don't think single mothers are worse mothers just because things turned out differently for them, or because it was a deliberate choice. Nor would two mothers or two fathers as a couple have a negative impact on a childs upbringing, even if catholic church says it's a sin.

I would guess that you would need to ask the single women who decide to get pregnant. Either intentionally or unintentionally.
Some of the older women seem to think that their perfect husband had slipped through their fingers. But they will choose to accept a man’s sperm. Even though they would never marry them. Either through artificial or direct insemination.
Plus the government programs. Even though they don’t cover the cost of a child.

I wouldn't dismiss all of them as a "choice". I have a lady friend who got artificial insemination and gave birth to twins. She tried for years to find the right guy. Finally she decided she wanted to be a mother and doing it the ol' fashioned way just wasn't in the cards.

Now for the women that do, hat don't even try, to find a husband and do things the traditional way. IMHO it's because they're selfish people. They want a child simply because they want it. They're not thinking about all these ramifications you listed. And when they run into a rough patch they're quick to play they single mother in mean scary world card that can't get a break.

No idea, sometimes it's not much of a choice. My manager at my old job was a generally normal mid 30's white lady who randomly ended up as a black dude's baby momma. Not to bring race into it, her kid turned out beautiful of course. Just saying, she was a generally professional woman who made bad decisions and ended up in a situation mostly white trash girls would end up in.

A big part of it is that a lot of women aren’t Christian and don’t care about the Lord’s blessing. I personally would not have a child out of wedlock, but I don’t look down on girls who either choose to do so or are forced to do so by circumstance.
