It isn't really a "marriage" at all - no religious blessing.

But what it entails, is more the material aspects of a marriage: joining of assets, legal protections etc.

So it's nothing to do with "love" or "family," and more to do with money. Hence why politicians are all for it.

Why? What's wrong with it? Two people are in love and wish to spend their lives together. Aren't THEY allowed to have love, too? Let `em have it! What's it gonna hurt you? NOTHING!!! And @virtualwasp the inheritance tax starts at $12 million and at that point there are many other options available for estate planning than just marriage. In fact if you were married you'd still want to take additional steps to protect your assets.
