My family name is a contraction of two old family's/house's names, who had a strategical marriage centuries ago. Now I can say without a doubt (there are literal studies on it) over 50% of the world knows my house/family name (and my house is famous for good reasons). If you ask me, that's a pretty cool legacy and a heck of a lot better than changing my pronouns, or something /actually/ absurd like that.

Anyways, all of that to say; in my opinion if you marry a good person with strong character, hyphenated names are awesome.

I get what you're saying, but it's unlikely people will forget my name just given my house, and also I care more about a legacy of actually impacting the world and not just being rich. in my opinion, that legacy will be remembered regardless of name. We'll see though.
