It has lost its value for sure. Its not outdated just doesn’t hold meaning like it used to. Marriage was more than just a contract and companionship. It was to build a life with someone that covered your weaknesses while you covered theirs. There was more of a spiritual connection and more in the sense of responsibility. Now its more complicated with how society is. The cost of maintaining. The patience needed through the rough patches is none existent and instead of covering each others weaknesses its more of a competition. Duties aren’t divided based on strength and the pure connection seems to have faded. Marriage has lost a lot of its core values in the western world at least
